QB ? Yield and potency

If you like big sticky rock hard buds, then get QBs

And have you ever used HPS?

I have had no need to. After initially starting with a blurple, I didn’t want to waste any more money. The longevity and efficiency had me at hello.

@Familyman I hear what you’re saying, HPS will do the same. I understand the electricity savings and less heat. I want to know are they stickyer, harder, bigger, etc when grown under QB as opposed to HPS. Someone who has grown with both types should know the answer, just don’t know who that is

Maybe @Hogmaster?

I have a friend who works for a lighting company and he told me that the 600w chps was out producing led lighting in his side by side testing which is why I chose that light (but there has been advancement in both technology since then)

@dbrn32 maybe he can help too

Led bud density is still a higher quality than a HPS. @Gardenguy

Which lights was he comparing?

Density of the nugs will have a lot to do with the strain, but I’ve never had larfy or airy buds under my QBs or strip lights. There is a “getting used to” period with them usually because you will be feeding more than you’re used to using blurple or HPS lights

I am not sure what brands he was comparing I will have to get ahold of him and ask ,he works for eye hortilux

My 300 watt 4 cob lights smoked my 400’s on yield and density. 400’s are definitely slackers in hid world, but those were also cobs from 4 years ago and usually ran closer to 200-250 watt range. To my eye, frost was same which I expected to be more with leds based on higher ratio of blue from them. Maybe lab would’ve noted difference, but I didn’t. I wouldn’t say I gave up nor gained much from leds in that department. Perhaps different story now with more cct commonly available. Just my experience.

I think after that, everything else you’re doing becomes more prevalent. A single cola plant will have a larger cola than a plant topped multiple times under the same light. Temps will play into colors, nutes will apply a little to just about every aspect you’re asking about, and genetics too.

You don’t see any irony in that do you?

i have grown under CFL, T12 floro, MH, HPS, and MH/HPS, the most used was a combo of 400w HPS and 400w MH, seemed to do best for me,
i started a new grow 9 months ago, for heat reasons (6 months ago) i swapped from 400w HPS to 2x 135w QB’s, turned down and running at ~240w total, they r out doing any HID i have used.!
as far as quality goes, the plants r happier so they r bound to be more bountiful.!!

That’s what I was wanting to know

How did they turn out?

“how did they turn out?”…
let me just say… i swapped to QB for less heat, but the grow box was running 75-80 (lights on) before the change,
using less watts allows me to raise the ambient room temp so the room is now more comfortable for the humans and the box still runs 75-80.!

Nice to see another MH/HPS user here. I’m a newbie myself and in the process of dialing everything in while I wait for my seeds to arrive. Me bad I should have said WAS using a MH/HPS. Lol. My set up is 400 MH 600 HPS in 3 x 5 by 7 Tent. Definitely like your new set up though. Will see how my first grow goes to see if I do the same
