Starting to see some primordia. Any tips on humidity and temp?

I should mention I have a meat mat wrapped in a towel under bin. Inside the bin perlite in the bottom with water. I have a fan I exchange some air a few hours a day. Temperature stays around 83*f and humidity around 90%. When it gets in the mid 90’s I hit the fan on low. The light sits above the tub. Just a normal house lamp without a shade. It’s a led 1,600 luminaries 5,000k. Should I move the light further away. What temps are good in the bin?

Pretty much ideal.

Day three of colonization. I’m not sure if others have noticed this, but mycelium development on the surface of the cakes develops extremely rapidly during the first few days of fruiting. My cakes look like a fresh snow cover that shimmers like diamonds. I’d take pics, but I don’t want to risk contamination with airflow from outside the sealed tent.

Seeing primordia (the beginnings of pinning) on the cakes. They just look like a pinhead sized dark spots on the cakes. The cakes are very healthy and doing well. Should be able to harvest a first flush mid next week.

I won’t be opening the tent to take pics until the first flush is ready to harvest to minimize the risk of contamination.

A tip for long-term shroom storage:

Desiccant (silica bead) bags for your jars. Buy empty tea bags and fill them up 1/3 with silica beads. I only fill the tea bags 1/3 full so that I can double bag them to prevent loose silica beads from co-mingling with your shrooms.

Wolk up to some fresh snow. Patiently waiting. 92% humidity 82* temperatures. About how long till this thing starts kicking pins?:crossed_fingers:

A week to 10 days of time in fruiting conditions.

Cakes will develop a top coat of mycelium very rapidly during the first couple of days in fruiting conditions.

Getting excited. Patiently. There was little snow from yesterday and wolk up this morning to this thing blown up with fresh powder. Crazy how it looks up close with all the fibers stretching. Super cool. Gave about a 30 second air exchange this morning by turning on the bin fan. I did mist the cake for the first time yesterday also. And it just exploded.

Happy growing Growmies :hugs:

Everything ok here? Cracked to give some air. Usually I turn the fan on once or twice a day. But just wanted to give a better pic and smell it. Smells very earthy.

Had one shroom get out ahead of the others. It weights 25 grams, so will be ~2.4g dried. The flush is shaping up nicely and should be able to harvest the 1st flush by end of day tomorrow or by Saturday morning.

I’m trying something different this time. There is a small wicking humidifier in the martha tent. It has a 2 quart tank and I put 2 ounces of peroxide in each humidifier refill. It gets refilled every other day and keeps the RH around 92%. It keeps a small amount of aerosolized peroxide in the tent at all times, which may help prevent contamination. We’ll see how it works out next week.

Does everything look ok on this thing? Is it just up to patience now?

The last of the 1st flush. The cakes have been soaked for a 2nd flush. Will drain off the water in the tubs tomorrow morning and then put the tubs back in fruiting conditions.

The dry weight from yesterday’s harvest was 28g. What was picked today will probably be another 7g when dried. I expected better, but I’ll just have to grow more. lol.
