Okay so I have read everything saying where ozone generators are not safe to be used in the house where people live or plants but I have read that people put the ozone generator on a timer or something then I read that I can put it on the end of my exhaust or something and it will be safe. I don’t really have many options here and I have to do something about the smell very fast, somebody has this on marketplace and I’m trying to see if I can get it on some type of trade but I’m just trying to see if anybody else uses them
Why do you want an ozone generator?
There’s no need to use an ozone generator for plants and if it’s a cheapy from China it could release ozone in places you don’t want it. Ozone is dangerous if you get exposed to it or inhale it. Save your money and let mother nature create the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere and don’t use man made versions.
Because the smell is out of control and I have to do something as soon as possible so just trying to find the easiest route to taper the smell down some.
What about any of these air purifiers? I see some of them have carbon filters in them, would any of these work?
Most people use a carbon filter. You can buy them online from hydroponic shops or make your own. YouTube has a number of videos on how to make a carbon filter from a couple of plastic buckets and an exhaust fan.
If you have a really smelly plant then you will need a decent sized carbon filter and those air filters with carbon don’t do the job.
I run ozone evac for the last 5-6 yrs. Lines need 20’ to clear the ozone before exit outside.
I don’t recommend the bulb driven units. Bulbs get expensive and have to be replaced yearly.
I use an inline 6” corona discharge unit.
I have to send someone into the attic every 3-4 yrs to bring it down for cleaning. Guess that means I’ve run it for 7 yrs.
Is the picture I posted a bulb driven?
Yes. Thats a hand held unit for stuff like automotive/camper deodorizer. You would run it and open windows to clear out. Not designed for what you’re trying to do without health risks.
@Budbrother so an exhaust cannot be attached to the end of it?
That would depend on the connections you rig up. I suppose you could build a register box. Filter tent through carbon filter into the register. Have skinny end inside register and attach the fat end to an 20’ exit pipe line. Just keep a healthy respect on the dangers and make solid connections.
The ozone is connected above that top opening

edit: forgot to mention that I have backflow preventers on the lines for safety.
@Budbrother o shit that’s a whole lot lol
It eliminates exit smells outside but I have to run a room carbon filter when I unzip and loose negative pressure.
@Budbrother okay I got you, yeah I don’t have a tent I am in a room that is about 6x10 or so but I have somebody on marketplace supposed to trade me for a carbon filter on Friday. You know I have my portable AC exhaust running up into my attic so I’m wondering if when I get the carbon filter if I can attach it to my AC’s exhaust and it will help
You could attach it to the exit. The problems I see would be lower lifespan due to heat and clogging of filter causing heat buildup on ac unit.
Maybe build a room carbon filter like this. You’d get more flow, a longer life span, and better filtering than a unit. Could get the refillable ACI carbon filter to save more on filter swaps
@Budbrother okay I kind of got an idea of what you’re saying but I’m not all the way sure. This is what I just did I put the filter on all of the filters on the AC and yeah I did notice it get weaker well not on the AC but on my tower fan when I put this over it the fan lost a bunch of power
I think Budbrother has you on right track with ozone generator. I came to post about air purifiers. My wife bought an expensive one with multiple layers of filtration including a chargeable carbon sheet to help with my daughters allergies. If my Rottweiler farts close to it may clear the smell a little quicker than it would normally disperse, but I wouldn’t expect it to cover the smell of an entire grow.
An ozone generator is a no no. I use a very good quality oil burner and burn pure lemongrass oil outside of my grow room. Before using it my entire house smells like weed after using it my house smells like fresh lemongrass it truly works.
Note
As long as it’s outside your grow room there’s no threat of fragrance in your plants whatsoever. I even open my grow room door for about an hour and let all the funk out into the house and the smells killed almost instantaneously
@Lostgirl hey I haven’t seen you in a LONG TIME! Hope all is well! Where can I get this lemongrass oil from? Do you mean like the essential oil bottles? How much is a bottle of that stuff? Please show me what you use. I ended up putting that filter on my AC last night, I’m not sure if I even notice a difference LOL but yeah I have some blunt power spray that I use and it’s pretty strong and you can smell it outside the house because my exhaust is going into the attic so whenever I spray the blunt power into the AC it goes straight outside pretty much but yeah I can smell it in my front yard and then I’ll get a whiff of the dank at the same time lol
