Over ripe autos bear seeds?

I found this while researching and am wondering how true this is-

If left to grow past harvest prime, autoflowers will automatically produce seeds.

I just harvested a 23 week old White Widow Auto and see NO seeds so is this guy full of bull :poop:?

Hopefully the article doesn’t violate community standards-

I have never heard that an auto WILL produce seeds if harvested past peak ripeness. That’s why you need to be careful who’s information you follow online :wink::v:

I grow ten autos a year, every year and I ‘maybe’ come across 2 or 3 little green seeds, but they look weird and misshapen also they are pale white inside, but there is no difference in the end result. …:man_farmer::rainbow:

Oh, I completely agree. This article was written in '13 so I didn’t know if that was a commen thing back when Autos first hit the market. I was more interested in the light requirements because my daytime temps will be in the 60’s starting mid Feb but will only have about 10 hrs daylight til March 10th and was thinking about getting a head start.

lucky you to have daytime temps of 60’s in Feb

Read up on Autos in the GUIDES above, here are the answers / knowledge you will need to grow auto pot .

I think a lot of this is how you take the context. If you let plants go long enough a lot of them will pop nanners and try to pollinate themselves. This is not limited to autos in my experience. But just because it can happen doesn’t mean it absolutely will without a doubt at a certain period in time.

all type of unusual things happen when a new strain is being developed and established.
early auto’s were sad excuses for pot plants. sporadic results were common.

NOW…most are stable hybrids. But as always, unexpected results not uncommon.

Had three seeds going…same hybrid strain. Two were taller and very bushy. One was shorter and very slender profile compared to the other two. Each seed is a roll of the genetic dice. Like Forrest Gump said, “life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get”.

After all, growing is a wonderful adventure into the “I hope it goes right” world.

Best Wishes…:cowboy_hat_face::vulcan_salute::v:
