Outdoor grow in da heat

Thanks. No, it usually never rains this time of year. This year it’s the weirdest weather. All month of May it was overcast, drizzling and rained into early Jun. It’s all dried up now.

About defoliation, do you mean trim the leaves after the buds forming and let the buds thicken up or after harvest?

Just realized the picture of the big Gold Leaf didn’t load up. She’s already 8’ now and still growing. I just saw very few tips have white pistils showing but not much. Luckily the corns I grew to cover her is 10’

The tall one on the left is #5, the right one is #4. The wall behind is about 5’

Yeah boy! That’s a biggen ‘!

Please note, it’s going to get s lot bigger when it flowers.

You might consider bending it sideways, supercropping, or topping now.

Should I just cut her cola off? If so, how much top should I take off? I probably need to stake more as well. Man, they said this GF will be 7’. What a surprise!

I would try to bend over. If no room on the sides, you will have to top it. Where you top is up to you.

@AAA There’s no more room to bend so I’ll have to top her then. I guess at this stage it doesn’t matter where I top her, right? I guess when you got a gigantic plant like this, you’d have to cut her up at harvest so she can dry properly, right?

@Ocean711 Thanks. I totally agree. I’m going to have to top my big gal though. She looks like she’s going to get taller and I won’t be able to manage later.

Oh yeah I left out the guano

I love looking at outdoor grows, the plants growing to full potential, I’ve only got a month to go before I put my next crop in, I too only grow outdoors, each year 12 strains, 30 plants, I’ll be putting my seed order in tomorrow.

Holy Moly, 30 plants!!! Do you trim all the buds yourself? That must be a big haul. I’d love to know which strains you’ve been growing, must’ve grown all strains there is.

That’s over 3 sites, and have a machine to do most of the trimming,I won’t hijack this thread, I’ll start one up about the strains, and tag you.

Great! Can’t wait to see yours.

Ning if you are seeing pistils I definitely wouldnt top cut anything. If something is getting cut… itd be lower branches (for air circulation and clones) and big ass fan leaves blocking light to budsites. But i dont grow outdoor. @Big123 do u defoliate? If so care to shed some experience?

@PurpNGold74, thanks for your advice. Yes, I saw a few pistils out of some branches. I’ll leave her for now then. I’ll have to leave for 3 weeks next week and won’t be back unthil the end of Jul, family health issues dictated. Do you think it’ll be safe to leave the plants for that long? I have installed very good drip irrigation system before I planted and it is working well. The seed description says flowering stage is 60+ days, so they should be ok, right?

I should beef up the support too, I guess.

I only trim leaves off when they start yellowing and dying. Some folks like to lollipop.
You may need some support like fencing wire or something else when heavy buds develop.

My current outdoor grow here @PurpNGold74

Thanks! Man these plants are different beast! I’d never grown or even seen them before. Such a fascinating species! It will be tight but I’ll squeeze them in.

Yup. Without a doubt an interesting plant. One of my favorite species of organisms period. Right up there with smart ass fish and :poop: throwing monkeys :joy::joy::joy:
