@Mozzy convinced me to use SIPs, hoping to keep everything 100% organic and use pHd tap water

@noddykitty1 @Skydiver you must be growing outdoors right? You don’t need a cover crop indoors…i would love to be growing outside!

Do you just mix those 2 bags together and just water from seed to harvest?

Some growers do use cover crops @shindig153 does if I’m not mistaken :v::call_me_hand:

I beleive you’re right, he did. I did too when I used pots inside. I used clover and chop and dropped it before planting. Its a good way to keep your soil alive and add in nutrients when you chop and drop

I can see the benefits if it helps the flavors…

I see… it would help keep the soil active and even indoors it could help fertilize the soil too…

You don’t NEED cover crop indoors but I do have them indoors. They grow and help things and I also pick them along with defoliation of plants and make delicious salads from them!

The cover just keeps the microbes going strong and prevent erosion of the soil between main crops. They also prevent noxious big spikey weeds from moving into the hood. They also seem to keep the moisture level longer too I have observed.

Strawberry’s don’t fix nitrogen at all, but they have shallow roots and don’t strip the soil. Many more common cover crops do actively add nitrogen to the soil. When the strawberries get too crowded I just save some runners and turn them over turning them into fertilizer. This would be messy and tricky indoors to prevent bugs. Outdoor, it’s my routine.

My cannabis gets to crop in the sun. But I always do seed runs and keep clone s in my fish room (garage) of keepers. I have had my jilly bean cut since 2006 (seattle cannabis collective) and my Durban cut since 2007 (seattle cannabis collective). Those were my first keepers. I primarily select for mold resistance in the seattle rain and wet morning dew. It’s wet here even on sunny days every morning. I also keep keeper males believe it or not. Balls to the walls ha.
Here is my outdoor dj short blue berry getting pissed on by the rain.

I posted this in the cover crop thread on my fruit growing forum. No one there thought it was funny. I am still laughing….

I’ll use them independently, the sohum is supposed to be water only, the lush could be also maybe but not sure it’s designed as water only. Should be interesting to see the results. I started a journal but not sure how to link to it

Don’t forget to let it air out for a day or two + in order for any chlorine to evaporate, unless you use a filter or something
