I got lost in this conversation Wondering about 4 plants in a 32"x60" area granite there taller strains so training and pruning will be a must. just didnt want to cause bad unnecessary problems. Thanks for your help all info is welcome. @monkman Good info.
When you turn your AP’S On how long does it take for the trays to fill up?
Maybe a minute or so. They fill pretty fast. If you are starting with an empty one.
That seems fast I thought between gravity and air in the lines it would take longer.
Nope, Once you turn the valve on. You will see it start filling in seconds. And my lines are some what long lol
Took your advice and went with air domes with the upcoming grow wtf whats there to loose.
Mine are always solid packed with roots. I am thinking some air stones in addition may be helpful now
I’m using jacks321 as a base nutrient so I’m thinking of boosters. what would you think about FF open sesame Jacks Bloom formula and finish with Cha- Ching as a program.
@TLC, I am just starting with Jacks. Still trying to get a base line before additives. I just started using silica because of issues with a DT @imSICKkid has been using the longest of those I know. He might be able to let you know
You don’t need any of that stuff, but you can certainly tinker with it.
@Not2SureYet. Try diluting your silica into a little bit of water and adding last. About 5ml per gallon into 1oz of water per gallon is what I do. With silica blast puts my ph right at 5.8 without any ph up.
Cool, I will try that next time. I added this days after I had filled the rez. It would be nice not to have to use so much ph up. @d
Why did you start using silica?
I have heard lots of good things about it but I was in soil before, with the coco switch due to AP’s maybe I should make the switch.
@dbrn32 your input on your experience with it would be appreciated
Strengthening of branches mainly, but also said to help deter pests, and assist with nutrient uptake.
There is usually enough in a healthy soil that its not required to supplement. Inert media and hydroponic grows typically don’t have any unless added.
I heard it makes buds denser as well.
Yeah I probably should be adding some my branches fall over when he buds get to heavy.
Is all silica additives are near the same I assume since it’s just silica besides the dissolving speed/efficiency?
what product are you using and why?
@dbrn32
I use armor si for my GH nutes. it is good for a number of reasons.
I’m currently trying to burn up a bottle of silica blast that’s probably at least 4 years old. Probably just what hydro shop had when I purchased, and haven’t seen a reason to change. I’m not sure about gh, but most companies use same ingredient, potassium silicate. When I get close to finishing this bottle ill just buy it in dry form.
I’m not sure how much it helps bud swell, but I’m sure potassium in it does some work. I’m not a big believer in buying this bottle or that bottle to magically make stuff happen. But I do believe if you supply what plants need they will do what they are suppose to. If you were specifically looking to get some late bud swell, I think I would try more of a potassium sulfate product. I think has little higher concentration of potassium and sulfur should help terpene profile along a little.
I use langbeinite. 0-0-22. High in K, sulfur and magnesium. My buds smell a lot better and find the bud to be more potent.
Agreed on the dry nutrients over a bottle seems to be harder to find though of course… Does a bottle last a long time?
Ty for all your input @Not2SureYet & @sh
Boy is it getting hard to find my threads LOL Well, the Fruity pebbles is down. I chopped her on thursday. She is a smaller one. but all the buds look great.now, if I could only get more to grow this small. I could start going through a few more beans
This was her at the end
Very Nice
