Northern Lights - First Ever Grow

I think I’d plan on removing the lower third of the plant material just in case. That does not look like anything I’m familiar with. Do you have high humidity now? Are you in an urban environment?

Could you have a neighbor who sprayed Roundup recently? Or something like that?

It’s been about 90 during the day, very humid. Rain every couple of days. Not in an urban environment. None of my direct neighbors use chemicals on their lawn. Also this is only happening to this plant, my 2nd plant looks fine

Yeah have not seen that before, looks like some type of mold or fungus.

That’s leaf septoria. Remove those leaves or branches carefully.

Just started to try and force flowering. First frost is mid-nov where I live so I’m cutting super close assuming at least 8 weeks for flowering. Feel free to check out my grow.

Thank you everyone! I trimmed off all the leaves that had the spots, including 4 lower branches that had a lot just to be safe

This is my first grow, and it started to flower much sooner than I thought it would. I first saw pistils on July 19th. And thanks for linking your journal, I’ll be following along!

Thats a virus… septoria I believe? That plant is pretty much skrewed… Id carefully discard that and the soil. I wouldnt want it anywhere I plan to grow cannabis.

Ok I’m getting mixed information now. When I googled leaf septoria I read that you just need to remove affected areas, and it doesn’t affect the buds. But you’re saying the whole thing is screwed?

You can do what you want… but hey it might be ok? Cant hurt to try

@BobbyDigital @Hellraiser @Cannabian @Naturalmedsman @Myfriendis410 Two part question:

  1. We had a bad wind storm today, and it looks like the branch on this cola snapped. It’s still attached, but hanging. Will this heal? Or should I cut?

  2. While inspecting that cola, I saw some dark spots. It looks like it’s just the leaves. Also, it’s the outside of the bud, NOT the inside, which is where the rot usually is. The rest of the leaves on this broken cola are wilted now too. But I’m afraid of bud rot and don’t want to take any chances

I’d cut the top off, if the leaves are wilting than too much damage has been done, won’t heal. Buds are looking kinda weird too, chop it and further inspect for rot/mold.

Hard to tell how bad the break is based on the pic, but seems leaves/kola is dying? I’d probably cut and harvest any decent looking bud. I’d probably cut the brown stuff off too. Looks like rot to me. Maybe I’m just paranoid since I lost my entire plant earlier this season due to mold. Let the experts chime in as I’m still a beginner and learning. Fingers crossed!

BTW, did you get any purple in your stems? Mine are turning purple. Wondering if it’s genetics or nutrients. I did some searching and saw others with Northern lights had purple too.

Thanks. I cut it off, and trimming it now. No purple stems on either of my NL plants yet

@Hellraiser @Naturalmedsman I cut and trimmed the top of the cola. There doesn’t seem to be any bud rot anywhere. Those dark spots were indeed wilted sugar leaves. Can’t wait for these to fatten up in the coming weeks

@SuperBeef how do your northern lights plants smell? Realize mine is still in the early stages of flowering, but I got basically no smell. If I put my nose to the flowers, maybe a little earthy smell mixed with old gym socks lol.

Mine smells ALOT. Had the windows open this weekend, and the wife was mad that it stunk up the rooms that face the backyard. So sticky too if I touch any of the buds or sugar leaves. I don’t know if I’m going to make it to the end of the month though. Caught some early signs of bud rot, even though it hasn’t rained in 2 weeks. I’m still fighting that leaf septoria, and just now found a spider web

Wow! Good smell should hopefully equal good smoke! Tough call on when to chop given the rot and septoria issues. The buds you posted above looked pretty good. How far from finished are they?

I’m hoping mine gets some good smell soon, but also dreading the commentary from my wife.

Some bud updates. I’m hoping these finish before the first frost. Starting to get cold at night.
