I understand, it always makes me feel proud when I see that I can grow better quality weed then the Schwag found around me. Ohh and don’t forget to smoke the leftover hash on the trimmers, gives u a lil sneak peak.
Through the whole thing I was thinking who was growing the shit I would buy as a kid. Bunch of seeds stems. Blah.
That cabinet looks way better than last pic I seen!
Ya ik the feeling, when I first moved down to FL I rexperienced it all over again. The mids and even the higher quality stuff usually had seeds. Helped me with my first grow but that’s about it. The weed I grew from the bag seed was waaayyyy better then the stuff I bought, so I must’ve done something right.
I think a lot of us take great pride in our horticultural accomplishments. Unfortunately we can’t share them with many people, which is why I suspect so many of us love ILGM ;-).
Yeah been having a blast. Shooting the breeze. Until the other day on grass city. Was asking about starter for organic soil and dude flips out saying I already told you. Well maybe I was scouting around other opinions. Calls me arrogant and what not One bad apple…I guess. Oh well ilgm has always been fun and helpful. I do forget what I’ve said already sometimes though
Gotta go mix up some soul for grow #2 and steer clear of soil snobs lol. Have a good day
Checked the bottom of my pot yesterday. Saw some roots beginning to peek through. Time for a transplant to the final container.
Slid off the external container to reveal the modified container without a bottom. Roots are looking very good!
Sorry tomatoes. I admire your tenacity, surviving my composting process and still managing to sprout. But you’ve gotta go…
Soil is looking awesome! Rich with worms. Good moisture retention. nice and pliable for easy root development. I think I’ll take this opportunity to add a little 2-8-4 organic slow release fertilizer. Seeing as this soil is 50% organic compost, there should be lots of available nitrogen.
Decided to finally experiment with using an oya to water my plants with. For those not familiar, an oya is an unglazed clay pot, burried with the plant that acts as a slow release water resevoir. Water gradually seeps through the clay, and the roots seek out the moisture, leading to a situation where the plant quickly self-waters as needed and I get much better water retention. I’m planning on being away for a week later this summer and I’m not in a position to have a water system on a timer, so I decided to go old school with an oya. About 1000 year old in terms of watering methods in hot regions of the world.
Buried the plant pot with the bottom removed and one side vented. Now I just need to slide the container out and the transplant should be pulled off with zero root trauma.
Looking good. Now for the lid…
And there we have it - my first and final transplant for this grow, including old school oya watering system! Can’t wait to see how this works…
That’s a pretty sweet method hope all goes well!! I’ll be watching to see
That’s very cool, but I would only use it when you will be away. Could keep top area of soil moist, but never entire pot of soil, which could slow your root development, except in area that is continuously moist. Continuously moist soil regions can create fungus and rot as well. Your soil needs to dry between earrings.
I hear ya @Blountville… unfortunately for my outdoor grow, I live in a coastal rain forest and we get a LOT of wet during the spring and early summer. I’ve had some good luck with the weather thus far, but this last week has been a wet one.
Yeah I know what you mean I’m in South ga. And 20 a gram is the norm but it still ain’t really sh8t
