Hi guys,
after reading a lot here I will try my luck and ask a question myself! Ive been growing 3-4 grows, always with nutrient problems. Now I am in week 5 of flower with a photoperiod, which I have been training for 4 months. Somehow leaves are falling off, I have burnt tips and over all discoloration. I keep the pH at 6.3-6.6 and grow in AllMix from BioBizz and use their supplements (Grow,Bloom,TopMax,Heaven,CalMag)
Im looking forward to all the nice answers and will keep yall updatet on the plant
Do you know your runoff pH and PPM?
Don’t worry about the lower leaves. It is normal for a plant to shed them as it matures.
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the nice welcoming words!
I don’t have a ppm meter but runoff sometimes is as high as 7.3! I flushed it a few weeks ago and now runoff sits around 6.7-6.8
Welcome to the forum, I see MidWestGuy got you covered was gonna ask the same questions lol.
Anyway welcome and don’t be shy to ask questions and share pics . Always good to include your tent or grow space size and equipment.
Of course, the space is 60x70x190cm! Once I am home I will post more pictures because the upper leaves got a yellow tint to them but the new growth seems pretty normal. They have slightly brown/reddish tips though. Hoping I can figure it out with the help of you all, would be a shame to have small yields after so much effort.
Back at home, took some pictures. I must add temps are between 24-28° C and humidity is right between 48-56%, in the nights after watering it peaks at ab 75%.
As promised, more pictures highlighting what I am mostly concerned about. Flower period estimate for this strain are 8-10 weeks so I got roughly 4 weeks left.
Edit: If it would just be nice coloring that would be great too! I love that in strains
The pale yellow leaves is caused by the plant when it’s flowering. During the flowering period the plant wants to put as many nutrients into the flowers. If it doesn’t have enough nutrients in the soil then it will strip nutrients out of older leaves to put into the flowers. It’s very common in cannabis plants that are flowering. To prevent it you simply fertilize it more often.
I’m not familiar with bio biz but it seems like its organic soil system. And looks under fed possible microbe problems or not enough organics for microbes to exchange.
Also should probably not be using calmag in soil, as calcium carbonate is lime and raises ph. So you may have an imbalance with to much calcium to k and magnesium ratios.
The real problem may be what you don’t wanna hear but.
Organics is not suited for limited pot mixtures for indoor controlled container growing. You will be fighting against a force you cannot control and will have problems..
There’s a good reason multi billion dollar company’s use hydroponics in controlled environments like greenhouses in rockwool.
And organic farmers like Amish spread matures to living containerless soil. Both farmers have great success in their own rights, but both fail mixing the two.
Plant seems really hungry. Definitely needs some potassium. Hopefully you are not pushing your plants too hard bc extreme ppfd can look like a deficiency. But since it is organic, im assuming your underfed. It is a good idea to get a small amount of runoff to test on occasion to be sure. Its wasting nutes, but you can just dump it back in after. Or let the pot soak it back up. Goodluck.
Update: Plant was, as you correctly suggested, really hungry. Got fed with bloom nutrients and also had 1 veg fed to her, which brought back some green color.
I am starting my diy dwc as soon as I got everything needed, a comment also suggested trying it for more control for nutrient uptake etc.. Maybe this is the way for me
Plant looks more promising and against my better judgement I will take a few clones from lower stems with popcorn nugs for the dwc project. Wish me luck and happy growing yall
Glad you got it straight. I need to double what is recommended on organic to keep them where i want it. I top dress individual amendments and have great results. Im not on here much like i used to be. But goodluck to the finish line.
Oh ya and one more thing. I grew soiless in coco using jacks. It is superfast and robust. But one more thing that alot on here will not admit. Organically fed plants will always taste and smell better then any synthetic grow. It is a fun experience, a different style of grow. But very true words. I proved it on here with clones. But enjoy the ride!
