I dont like to risk purchased seed outside, so I transplanted some plants from my own seed to grow outside. These are regular seed, could be male or female. They are a Colombian x Native Kansas hemp cross. Where I lived in Kansas when I produced this seed has native wild hemp in all the ditches. Had to be a cross, because the Colombian seed was feminized, and I didn’t find any hermies.
Cool pic. They all look healthy..,they are a little close to each other…but should start to flower in about a month…and some may be males so that will create a space. If you have ditch weed close, they could get pollinated and have seeds.
These are regular seed, they won’t start blooming until September 21, that’s when the days are 12 hours. Im only 3 miles from the Canadian border in Montana. Hopefully they will finish blooming before it freezes. As far as the spacing, these are for decoration as well as weed.
Great produce! No doubt that you know what you are doing. But I would caution you that corn doesn’t grow 6-10 feet wide like outdoor cannabis can. It’s fun if it is for decoration, but if you are planning on harvesting, the branches will be intertwined and interfering with each other. Cool to see it in the wild and love the farm equipment. Good luck, keep us posted.
Sorry to hear that. BTW, there is a thread here on the forums that specifically asks about seed viability over time. If those seeds were from 2015, you would have some good input on the thread. It’s in the troubleshooting section. Hope you try the outdoor again, would like to see it.
Those seeds are getting old. Less than 50% will germinate. I hate growing them inside because they are regular seed and take up twice the room. That may be the last hurrah for that batch. I’ve got other wild hemp crosses tho.
