New grower, trying to understand why my seedling does not have that beautiful dark green whe all want to see

Hey guys, im on day 8 of growing somango, 600 ppfd/24h on, 24/25 °C and 70/80 RH, always. 500 ml of dechlorinetade tap water on days 2, 5 and 8. My substrate is made of 50 L of turf, perlite and carbonized rice hulls in equal parts, 16 L of vermiculite, 12 L of worm castings, 200 g of bone meal, 700 g of volcanic rock dust, 200 g of dolomitic lime, 400 g of castor bean cake. Im testing 2 differents substrates, the ones behind have vermiculite, the ones in front, don’t. Am i in a good path?My first leaves look a little pale and thin, why? What/where should i be paying attention? I took a measure from a soil sample, and its reading 8/8.5, is it because of the volcanic rock dust? Should i worry about it? Thank you for yours tips and opinions!

It is normal and color will fill in in a few days when chlorophyll has had time to catch up with the new growth.

IMO that’s a lot of light and water for seedlings this size

Im thinking about going 20/4, is there a problem with autos if i change the light schedule in this stage? Or that is something i just cant control with autos?
About the water, they are sucking it up completely in 3 days max, and im actually thinking about raising to 1 L on day 11 if they continue to dry this quick, what do you think?

No issues changing light schedule with auto plants.

Overwatering can give you yellowing leaves or death especially the little guys that just came up

Try lifting each pot they should be very light before watering. As long as the leaves are not drooping they are not ready for more water until they get bigger

She has grown, and im thinking about start training her tomorrow, what do you think? I also notice that one of the leaves changed color, maybe some deficiency?

looks a lil thin to start training imo @kaptain3d may say im wrong, and he’d be right

She would be good for some lst. HST is possible at this stage, but a bit more risky

IMO to early for a deficiency with loaded soil

When you water try watering out farther, instead of at the base of the plant water just outside the leaf edges so the roots reach out.
Being a new grower I would wait a little longer to start training it can be done but it’s risky when first starting out

Looking good though :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Here is a picture of watering outside the leaf edges I stole from @Crazy81 journal, a great example of what you want to be doing.
I don’t think crazy will mind

Welcome to the GANG
I LIKE to keep it as simple as possible,
I have also had huge results with FOX FARMS OCEAN FOREST soil it has all the nutrients that you will need starting off , the little plants shouldn’t need anything at this point, just H2O at this point in seedling stage, now when it has grown some going into vegetative stage then give them their appropriate nutes ,not too much ! Find a good source for your water
H20 , bottled water is crap ! As long pH is 6.0 ~7.0 on your water, I’m a thinking the volcanic rock dust might be a little hot on the pH causing you problems,
Oh with your lights at the top of the tent,
It will make ur girls " plants" very leggy tall way to early in the game , lower your lights way down to about 18" above your grow pot,
They WILL thank you for it by responding growing growing, the key is slow down take ur
Time, These are ALL awesome folks here on the ILGM forum, here not above you, but right beside you!!!.. growing with you

@Bigfoot1 @Lostgirl @spankyjr1 look how they are going! The two in the front got dumped off pretty quick, but these two have thrived! They are under 1200 ppfd, drinking 4L of water in 3/4 days! I think this is the last week, wish me good luck!!! Thanks for all the support guys!!!

How many weeks have they been flowering? Those buds are itty bitty. They got lots of fattening to do. Much more than a week. I say several (easy)
