New Grow Room - First Timer After Advice

Do u use the LEDs as side light… I know u said u have you tents in a tent in your basement how much heat comes off the 1000watt use @Countryboyjvd1971

I don’t have side lights @BuffaloSoja I’m scroging one tent and training the plants in the other
super cropping mostly right now and topping of course
My tents stay in the 76-80 degree range right now will all the lights on
I have exhaust fans in both tents and I have one in the grow room itself
I maintain around 60-65% humidity in grow room with help of a whole house free standing humidifier
and I allow my exhaust fans to put humid air into tents
Right now since it’s still cold out I recycle my tent air meaning I just exhaust tents into my grow room which I have lined with heavy plastic as a vapor barrier help hold humidity
I turn on room exhaust when it reaches 78 degrees and have a fresh air intake (passive ) coming from out side to provide fresh air to room and help keep cool
I will eventually exhaust my tents outside to help control room temps as well just a matter of a few quick connections I left off for winter grow
In summer I have a small Ac unit just for my grow room and I’ll set that for 78 but my basement tents to stay around or below that temp even on a hot summer day so Ac doesn’t run much
I also have a dehumidifier if needed

That sounds similar to how I would like to set my rooms up … I’ll have a post going for that build so I’ll just tag u on it u don’t mind thanks for all the info

Been getting Stuff Done!

Room Wetted Down for Asbestos removal

Wall sheets removed. Already insulated. i just filled in some empty patches. Note old rear doorframe hiding underneath.

Resheeted with plaster

I’ve capped the flu hanging down but have noticed there are all kinds of leaks going on. I am yet to decide if its worth keeping or not.

Next up is a nice paint of flat white paint!

I’ve changed plan slightly. I’ve ordered 2 600W HPS/MH lights. Cheaper LED lights just arent the go. If this turns into a hobby I’m very interested in moving towards some lights by Chilled or even the custom lines suggested by growmau5.

I actually found some prepacked panda film locally as well. It was prepackaged and fairly expensive though. I live pretty regional and supplies aren’t the easiest to come by so far.

I was planning on 2 or 3 plants as a first grow. But I think I’m ready to try 5 or 6 plants on a first go. Which brings me to start thinking about the next run of supplies. How big a pot will I need to transplant them into for their final grow? All the pots around here seem to be measure by the diameter of the pot and not the litreage! and suggestions in pot diameters are welcome!

Although I am new myself, and about 2 weeks from starting my first grow, I have been reading these forums for a couple weeks…

From what I can gather, most of what I have seen suggested 5 gal pots (I got the 5 gallon cloth pots) Mine are 13.5" x 10" i believe). Some get bigger pots, bigger the pot, bigger the plant…

I am sure a more experienced grower will come by and correct me if I am wrong…

Thanks Ron. I’m guessing it all depends on the type of grow as well. 2 plants would be able to grow a lot bigger than 4-6 so therefore would be best in a larger pot.

Its amazing how much thought and planning is needed for this! I think I have something down but then in other preparations I become unclear on the way forward and spends a few hours researching.

I’m interested in what people with this space would do straight off the bat. 1M Wide x 3M long x 2.4M high.

@SpagMoss the room is coming along nicely!

5 gallon pots for photos and 3 gallon pot for autos. Are the recommendation given by most. Soft pots/ cloth pots/ air pots /smart pots (I’ve seen them called all of those) imo are the only way to go

I had never heard of cloth pots before researching a grow room. Now I have
10x 5 gallons on the way! The benefits really do seem a no brainer.

You won’t be disappointed!
