Y’all are funny! I think I’m going to like it around here. Lol! I usually use a .40 cal for aerating my burn barrels or I’ll tape some targets to a barrel and do some target shooting with my 300 win mag. Never was much of an Ought-Six fan - I just figured if I’m going to shoot a .30 cal, I might as well shoot one with hair on its chest, like the Win Mag or .300 Norma. But they’ll all work.
I really appreciate all the help and advice and I’m looking forward to getting started! I’m going to start another thread with some questions I have on PH, water and soil. I’ll find a more appropriate section to put it in, though. Hope y’all will jump in there also!
I’m just now joining the party. I also live in the valley. How did the white widow auto flower work for ya @DTOM420?
@greenwildlife … welcome buddy… I’m also from the rgv… he hasn’t posted since 2019… growing here is hard but not impossible… good luck
Thanks @Mrcrabs nice to connect with you! I am going to try the tower garden aeroponic system with an auto flower. Do you find the humidity to be challenging here in the RGV?
It all depends… indoors I’m at 55% to 69%… but I’ve gots an ac running and in line fan pulling air out my room… not growing in tent indoors it’s a room… outside it’s 85% humidity bout 90 degrees plants love it…
Awesome, thanks @Mrcrabs!
No problem buddy… hit me up if you have any questions… I’d be glad to try and steer you the right way
Oddly, autoflower are mostly best for indoor under lights! Because you benefit from the fact that they will flower on an 18/6 lighting schedule, therefore you can bomb them with light during flower.
I would only grow photo strains outdoors if I had a season long enough, which it sounds as though you do.
You dont really gain any real advantage with autos outdoors, in my opinion, unless your season is really short. It sounds as though you should be looking for a semi tropical strain such as Panamanian, or Hawaiian? Maybe a Laosian/ earlyish Thai might even finish there?
Obviously, size and height may be a factor? Virtually any afghan will likely do well there.
These would be excellent choices if you have a place isolated enough as the laws down here suck!!!
Looking for help with seed choice. I live in desert and its hot. 110+ on alot of days.
I will start the auto flowers inside then transplant In 3 weeks to soil outside. Easy growing and heavy on the idica. Gorilla glue did well but Gold Leaf was terrible. Can you give me a few suggestions(2)
Thanks

Get some mosquito bits, safer Brand caterpillar killer or the 3 in 1 safer Brand and captain Jack’s Dead bug brew. Spray your b… er ladies two to three times a week once they’re vegging.
-
If you grow in 5-7 gallon fabric pots freeze 6 bottles of water and put them in a five gallon water cooler. Fill that mother up and let the water get no lower than 58 degrees. Water your h… er ladies again up using a plant saucer. The soil will suck it up quick and keep roots cool. Reuse the water bottles by freezing everyday.
-
Use a meat thermometer to check temperature soil. It’s cheaper and reliable.
-
Get a grow light that clamps on a table to raise seedlings inside, but get them used to being outside, too.
-
Check your soil runoff everytime you water them if growing in 5-7 gallon pots. Don’t worry about overwatering as long as you water around and near the plant.

This probably should have been number one but I saved the best for last. Granddaddy purple, sour Diesel, banana Kush and Durban Poison are perfect for Texas. How do I know? Because I got them growing in the same type of weather as Texas.
Good luck and keep it on the low low. Texas is a fucked up place with serious penalties.
- Trust no one in Texas.

Editted: Bit of language my guy. No biggie
Everything is on point but….
Not a great idea to give new growers. Bigger plants are harder to overwater but its very possible.
Overall great advice. N I second the recommended list. Especially since ur running em in a similar environment (as have a couple others)
Green crack and any Sativa as Indicas don’t like this heat and humdity.
Aye yo what’s up I’m in south Texas corpus Christi to be exact and I’ve got some Durban poison autos on the way going to be growing in 5 gal buckets outside 4 at a time I’ve grown regular bag seed before 3 plus times but in doors I’m hoping the autos do better for me and I’m using autos becuz summers here come on fast and last a long time with temps in triple digits for 2 plus months normally so I am thinking the autos will do better / for the cooler spring months and should finish before the dig days of summer June July August if I get them in final pots by mid March ! Does anybody think I will have success with this plan
They may finish… @Mrcrabs and @BobbyDigital are both pretty close. They may have better outdoor advice then I could muster up.
