PLEASE Don’t go with a junk and trash light. You have a solid plan, well thought out, planned well, you have a direction and goal. This light will NOT get you there. Look at lights from HLG, ChilLED, AgroMax (The light is the biggest and most important investment into this hobby you can make. It will make or break your grow) ---

@GreenSnek ok ill look into getting some then, I am all about the little extras to try and help! So as far as the light subject goes… I have a 1000w KIngLED light with flower and veg modes…would yall consider that junk too? I can’t remember the equation but according to it of the 1040 (whatever they were, i think it was a 4 letter anagram) needed to make a good canopy of light in my 4x4 tent this one rated like 925…that being said i am waiting on the fixture for a 600w mh buld for veg and 400 hps for flower and will be adding that as soon as it comes. Also been lookin at that hlg light…definitely gonna get one of those in a few months i hope ---

It’s really pulling 125 watts and that’s with the 3 fans running inside. Puts off a ton of heat too. Pretty junky, I got 3 sitting somewhere. Bulbs die off in a few months or so, not completely but enough to be upsetting ---

I’ve already got a pretty concise idea of what I want to represent with my grows. Bumper crop yields are down the road after I’ve gotten decently seasoned at this new endeavor. After looking around at the state of affairs both local and abroad, I came to the conclusion I am not in this for profit. This is a potent medicine and effective tool in helping body, mind and spirit. Because it is such an enormously beneficial thing to the well-being of my fellow humans, I cannot in good conscience put a price tag on that. Reserve what I need for personal use in between grows and simply give the rest away to others who need help seeing a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. That said and lemme kick my little soapbox back under the couch, I am going to be following the advice given to me by @dbrn32 and ponying up for a HLG-300L R-spec. Researching that bit of kit has brought to me the understanding that I planned more or less backwards and rather than making lighting my priority, I focused the vast bulk of my attention into the environment that I’d be operating out of. Thankfully the grow hasn’t started yet and I am slowly getting everything dialed in before I loose the arrow and pick up my first batch of seeds. ---

Nothing wrong with approach you took, environment is important too. Biggest baddest light around won’t help you if canopy temps are 110f. Your heart and mind are definitely in a good place together. Don’t write off your potential to produce a heavy harvest of quality buds though. I see this here a lot, and there is no reason to accept your first grow won’t produce a lot. The same aspects that will make your buds top quality should also produce a plentiful harvest. ---

Yeah Definitely man I was able to concentrate on the soil and light after I had everything under control but by far the improvement that has made the most difference, but it looks like you have a good idea of the process , once you do you trials and errors you’ll understand the why behind , good luck ---

The light test shows absolutely zero light leak anywhere, the fans seem to range from whisper quiet to mid 2000’s gaming PC noise level All in all, I am well pleased with how it turned out. Wire management was a bit of a pain in the butt, but a bit of planning has lead everything save for the grow light power cord to be 100% hidden and out of the way. Overall I feel decently confident about this setup, even with the subpar lighting condition. I have settled on going with LSD feminized for my first grow. From what I understand it averages around 2 foot tall and provides a cerebral, spacey head high that I treasure in a smoke. As for my filter, it is bagged for the time being, but knowing that once the smell starts to get mighty-mighty, I will unbag it and let it do its thing ---

Oh I know I am going to make mistakes and stumble while it goes to flower. Seeing as I’ve never done anything like this before, I’ll be unbelievably happy with producing even a couple nugs worth of harvest. Once the seeds come in, this is absolutely going to be my journal from seed to harvest. I appreciate your big vote of confidence, Randy and here’s to hoping everything plays out beautifully! ---

Grow Journal #1 Day 0: (4/5/21) - 5:43 pm EST: Seeds procured, 5 count. Day 1: (4/6/21) - 1:03 pm EST: Took one seed to germinate in water. Failed to conduct a pH balance beforehand. Hopefully this does not negatively impact the germination of seed or the survivability. (4/6/21) - 5:35 pm EST: Seed, now dubbed “Test Seed #01” is beginning to open. Uncertain how much longer to allow it to germinate via water bath before transferring it to the paper towel medium. Day 2: (4/7/21) - 12:01 am EST: Test Seed #01 fully opened and extended a root tail roughly 1mm in length. Taking a chance and transferring from water bath to paper towel dampened with water that has been pH balanced to 6.5 and was then placed in a container that is 98% light-secure. Will check progress in approximately 16 hours. (4/7/21) - 7:25 pm EST: Examined progress of Test Seed #01. Made note that growth was incredibly vigorous. Tail extended from 1mm to approximately 12.9mm. Transferred Test Seed #01 from paper towel medium directly to soil. Day 3: (4/8/21) - 7:34 pm EST: No observable change to be noted. Day 4: (4/9/21) - 2:31 am EST: Test Seed #01 appears to be emerging from the soil. Will chart progress throughout the day to see if growth continues to be vigorous. (4/9/21) - 1:54 pm EST: Used water pH balanced to 6.67 and misted Test Seed #01 thoroughly. Noted that growth continues to be active and highly vigorous. Clearly defined cotyledons and secondary proper leaves are budding. (4/9/21) - 10:00 pm EST: I have begun Test Seed #01 on a light schedule consisting of 18 hours of light, 6 hours of darkness with light time ranging from 4 am to 10 pm. Day 5: (4/10/21) - 4:00 am EST: Begun the first day of the 18/6 light grow cycle. Appears there was no additional growth from yesterday. (4/10/21) - 11:18 pm EST: Ceased light cycle at 10:00 pm EST. Happened to notice the cotyledons and initial growth of leaves seem to be curling inward. Deeply concerned the Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil is creating a toxic shock environment for Test Seed #01. Funds are non-existent at this point, so the experiment is simply going to have to proceed as projected, for weal or woe. Hopes are high that Test Seed #01 will be strong enough to make it through this problematic stage. Day 6: (4/11/21) - 4:00 am EST: Began the 18/6 light cycle for Test Seed #01. No noteworthy changes appear to have taken place in terms of growth. (4/11/21) - 5:34 pm EST: Grow tent temperature is reading 80 degrees fahrenheit at the point of the sensor. Test Seed #01 appears to have begun uncurling. Coloration is a vibrant sage-green, cotyledons and initial growth leaves are exhibiting signs of slightly increased growth Day 7: (4/12/21) - 4:00 am EST: Began the 18/6 light cycle for Test Seed #01. Appears to exhibit some minor growth. Coloration appears to be healthy. Considering renaming Test Seed #01 to something more feminine and fitting. (4/12/21) - 3:22 pm EST: Soil felt dry down to the first inch or so, measured utilizing index finger. Administered a light soil misting using water pH balanced to 6.5. (4/12/21) - 8:31 pm EST: Began testing settings with intake/exhaust fans to find ideal medium. Temperatures seem to range to highs of 85 degrees fahrenheit during the heat of the day and dropping as low as 72 degrees fahrenheit during the night. Humidity seems to fluctuate to as low as 25-30% ambient during the evenings to as high as 52% during the day. According to research, the temperature band seems to fall within acceptable parameters. The humidity however seems to be concerningly low. ---

Day 8: (4/13/21) - 4:00 am EST: Began the 18/6 light cycle for Test Seed #01. No appreciable growth noted. (4/13/21) - 5:08 am EST: Lowered the hygrometer/thermometer to be more or less in alignment with the height of Test Seed #01. So far the temperature has been holding steady at 77 degrees fahrenheit for the past hour. Humidity on the other hand seems to be more or less stable at 33% to 35%. Ran preliminary tests with an on-hand diffuser and managed to boost the humidity as high as 64%, though these results were achieved only after completely deactivating both the intake and exhaust fans. Not comfortable with that idea. At all. (4/13/21) - 5:14 pm EST: The addition of the small diffuser seems to have aided ambient humidity to a degree, though it has become very clear that it isn’t anywhere near sufficient enough to attain the desired level of humidity. From what has been researched, a humidity of 60% to 80% falls within ideal ranges for the seedling stage and after roughly 12 hours of monitoring, the humidity falls between 32% to 41% (4/13/21) - 5:44 pm EST: While performing routine gardening, a name idea for Test Seed #01 came to me. Here’s Maeve at 3 weeks old. First time grower concerns, as she seems a pinch stunty? According to my measurements, she currently stands at a rip-roarin’ 3 1/4" tall (8.25cm) and while I have no clue for certain without help properly identifying, she seems to be growing her main cola?
