Just an FYI for you…
It’s been 4 days since my last root rinse. I haven’t needed to do one further as the root rot seems to have cleared up. The roots are growing very well now

Thanks for the update buddy
Looking better Grow Bro, how many and what size air stones are in that bucket. The larger the roots become….more oxygen needed
That’s funny you ask… I actually added secondary air lines to each of my res buckets throughout the week. The air flow should be ideal given where the size of the root balls are at right now (And hopefully throughout the duration of the grow)
Well done my friend
Veg Week 9
2024-10-17T04:00:00Z→2024-10-23T04:00:00Z
Overall a pretty solid week of progress. Our sick patient, the Strawberry Cough, apparently got over its “coughing” stint this week and started showing some exceptional growth again. Here’s a fun little time lapse of pics to overview it’s progress throughout the week
After wrapping up the previous week, aside from updating the watering system and clearing up the root rot, I made another hardware upgrade regarding the PPM meters. The previous PmoYoKo meters that I purchased off Amazon (Yes both that I ordered for this grow) went to crap on me, so I opted to purchase another relatively cheaper one on Amazon. Eventually I’m going to get something more reliable and expensive… but for the time being I ordered a couple of these. Overall they’re pretty decent for the price. Gives an accurate pH, PPM, and also displays the temps on the screen. Plus side with these is that I can reliably let them work through the week without needing to calibrate them. They STAY accurate, which is paramount for managing a grow - let alone hydroponics!
For reference here’s the link to the meter if you’re interested = https://a.co/d/f1Ypipf
With the plant now fully recovered… I’ve been making it a point to do some more strenuous LST work to help expose the inner part of the plant. This in turn seems to be helping it grow out more and further develop the roots. Both plants are finally eating very well and thriving!
So with the growth taking place, one thing I was starting to get worried about were the root growth. Obviously from the pic you can see that the Strawberry Cough is still behind on the NYC Diesel… but as the rooting grows more I started worrying about ensuring there was enough oxygen being provided to them, particularly the NYCD.
To counter this… given that the aerators I bought each came with like 4 small air stones, I opted to run another air line into each res bucket to help increase the air flow. Quick little bleach clean on both the hose and air stone, and boom double bubbles! Overall the plants don’t seem to mind the extra attention
Otherwise that’s pretty much it. Seeing the feeds increase as far as water intake is concerned, but also seeing healthy nutrient intake via the PPMs dropping by like 50 every day (at least) to coincide with the water consumption. So to me the plants seem happy. Thinking if I can expand the canopy on the Strawberry Cough a bit more this week, I should be good for flipping. After all… the canopy is pretty much almost there -
Til next week folks… stay tuned!
Veg Week 10
2024-10-24T04:00:00Z→2024-10-30T04:00:00Z
Well I pushed both plants as much as humanly possible to try and create canopies, given the setbacks that I encountered earlier… especially with the Strawberry Cough. But after 10 weeks I think it’s about due time here
Starting tomorrow at lights on, I’m going to begin performing my pre-bloom routine where I will literally strip the lower half of each branch that is on point with the canopy top, do another LST, and then give it around 48-72 hours to recuperate before flipping into the 12/12 bloom schedule. Also going to make a point to setup the dehumidifier to start getting the humidity cranked down. Even when the humidifier s not running, the tent is hovering between 65-70% RH, which for this time of year is kind of surprising. Maybe the big prune job will help also alleviate some of that
Earlier in the week the Strawberry Cough finally stopped consuming nutes for a couple days straight when checking my readings. I think what I found interesting through this whole ordeal thus far is how to battle symptoms that come up during a hydro grow. You can clearly see it in the leaf behavior when it starts looking deprived of food by the leaves wilting a bit more than they should
So given the latter I swapped the res again to address this. To my surprise after feeding the plant and adding nutes to the res, the following morning I was kind of blown away by just how hungry she was. The starting PPMs were around 325, and after checking the plant after lights on the following day, it consumed around 150 PPMs of nutes
The heavy PPM feeds continued for about 2-3 more days until it balanced back out. But just goes to show what viable testing will do for you
I’m also continuing to battle the lights as odd as that sounds. In relation to troubleshooting leaf behavior, I started seeing the PPFD hit over 550, which seems to stress out the leaves. The NYC Diesel was looking a bit more yellow on top, whereas the inner growth lower down the branches had a very lush green color. I have had to keep slightly adjusting the lights, and also backed off on the intensity to help replenish the leaves. Hopefully once we flip, the higher intensity will be more of a welcome site for the plants
Otherwise that’s pretty much it. Plants seem to be doing pretty well, and hopefully after we flip, the Strawberry Cough will stretch a bit more (given it’s a bit further from the light) to the point where it potentially catches up to the NYC Diesel. But nonetheless this should be interesting to watch!
Til next week folks… stay tuned!
Extremely well trained planties, imo! Bravo Sir, that could be a Masterclass on LST!
They both look gorgeous
Beautiful plants
Just not too early on Sundays so I can get some shud-eye before class
It’s gonna be a very interesting challenge after the light change
Little Pre-Bloom Haircut for our big girl here
Crazy to think about how much foliage grows in that you might not be aware of
Will prep and cut the other plant later
looks good should give you some nice bud tips…
Excellent trim job Grow Bro, looking great
Thank you sir. I certainly hope so
Thank you Growmie! That was some job oooof
Pre-Bloom Prep
2024-10-31T04:00:00Z→2024-11-02T04:00:00Z
So without further ado… we’re ready to roll! Both plants recovered very well, and exceptionally quick (Like they have been every time I train them). Sunday is flip day and we will be converting to the 12/12 light schedule
Side Note - Ironically think flipping on Daylight Savings Time just has a cool ring to it
My only setback right now is the dehumidifier. The RH this week where I live has been a bit on high end, and the device I used the last grow is just not cutting it. Ordered a new one from Vivosun which got some pretty good feedback so I’ll check back after setting it up to see how it works
Also got some clones to play with. We’ll see if they actually root lol
Til next week folks… stay tuned!
I call it opening the door
Well in my head I say, let’s open the door.
Take a couple of cuttings off then you start seeing how many there really is
Looking great buddy
Maybe trim those clone leafs in half to slow them down and keep the misted
Excellent work and great looking canopies
Some before/after pics. Bout a 3 day time lapse here. Def see it stretched about 2-3 inches
Looks like I barely even defoliated anything
Nice growth Grow bro and digging the root fish bones
