MP's Hydro A Go-Go

Nice work :muscle:t2::green_heart::metal:t2:

That’s def the idea. So far it’s working great!

Thanks man appreciate it!

The ring is def helping to grow things out. Looked pretty good later in the day, albeit I had to feed them due to the diesel having some very droopy leaves. Luckily the recovery time has been pretty quick whenever water/nutes have been added with the top-off water at lights on

My weekly summary is going to be fun to write later this week

morning growmie…looks like you are getting your grow system worked out…girls look healthy…my experience in hydro is they will pop back after a healthy trim in 24hrs without adding anything extra…

Thank you sir! Finally on the right track here. Girls are starting to suck up a bit of water every day too

Interestingly enough… I was defoliating and LST-ing every day at lights on, and after like a few hours the plants recovered and had the leaves spread open to suck in more light. Although it was great to see that, I often wondered whether doing that everyday was maybe potentially stressing it out, so I started to do that every 2 days instead

I have found in my grows that I can trim as needed and no longer go by any time schedule…

Veg Week 7
2024-10-03T00:00:00Z→2024-10-09T00:00:00Z

Well I thought last week’s growth spurt was fun to observe. Then Week 7 happened. Whoa

Start of Week 7 (Day 43) -

End of Week 7 (Day 49) -

Literally looks like I have two small forests growing on each of my net pots. The growth took off at the end of last week, and just transitioned into this week with tons more of it. Been pretty cool to observe

As I mentioned on this journal earlier in the week, I opted to install “LST rings” on the space toilets. As if the entire space theme wasn’t enough, now I have rings orbiting my plants. Cue in your jokes folks

But anywho… the rings are working pretty well. I made sure to install these, and add flex tape on the back ends where the bolt caps are securing them, to avoid any light leaks hitting the res water. This is allowing me to spread out the plants and hit all the auxiliary nodes in the middle to help further promote the growth -

Near the end of the week (Day 47) I started seeing a weird pattern. The pH would nosedive by like 1 unit, whereas the PPMs stayed put. No fluctuations whatsoever. Earlier in this res cycle it wouldn’t surprise me to see the PPMs drop anywhere from 20-50 units and thus saw water and nutes getting soaked into the plant, and in turn helping it grow. Also during this time, the pH stayed pretty consistent for the most part without any major fluctuations

The plants started showing some droopy leaves, which led me to suspect that they were getting hungry for nutes (and potentially dealing with some lockout). Although I mostly add epsom salt every morning when I add water, I started seeing the PPMs climb up higher and higher. I think looking back, my res PPM to start from 2 weeks ago was around 350ish, and come to soon see it up over 400. Something just seemed off

Looking at some information online… I stumbled onto a pretty cool chart. Gave me some insight as to what was going on (Dropping pH, steady/slowly rising PPM/water levels dropping), and thus I did another res swap. This time however, I dropped the PPMs down 50 PPM (0.2 EC) and gave the plants a day to take the changes.

We will see how things go, but based on the pic shown at the start of this update, seems to be back on track. The Strawberry Cough still shows some older deficiencies due to the lockout… but as time elapses I’ll pull those leaves off

Also with me doing LST work here, I had to bump up the light intensity to 80% just so that it would hit my 500 PPFD mark with the plants laid out flat. Since it seems like things are back on track, I’ll keep an eye on things here and see how things play out

Til next week folks… stay tuned! :potted_plant:

I just had a suggestion, you did the work! :+1:

Oh no just offering credit where it’s due that’s all

This was something that was weighing on my mind out the gate when I started this. I really didn’t want to have my plants “landlocked” in there by tying the branches down to things inside the tent

Literally just did the res swap yesterday and it couldn’t have made that process any simpler. Might get interesting the heavier this plant gets… but I’ve got some other ideas in store for that

Nice and healthy Grow Bro :love_you_gesture:

So I know there are a lot of RO system enthusiasts who swear by it for their hydroponic watering systems. Given that I only grow roughly 2-3 plants in my tent… plus with my tap PPMs being considerably good (Around 65-70ish) I didn’t feel it was necessary to invest in the system

If you need further evidence of that… review my previous grow. All done with said tap water

That being said, I switched over to distilled water due to issues earlier with keeping the res water as gunk free as possible. Since distilled water is pricy ($2-3 per gallon), I purchased a Vevor distilled water making system = https://a.co/d/8UemkDE

Granted it’s a bit more work (Takes roughly 3-4 hours to brew a gallon of water), but it works pretty well getting most of the minerals out of your water. These are my readings using the same tap water I just mentioned earlier -

I used the ZERO water filter until just recently when I decided to get a RO system…your girls will like the new base water and so much easier to see if they are eating what you put in…

100% agree! Much easier to track what you’re adding to your water

Well here I am throwing in a twist on a Jaws quote -

We’re gonna need a bigger bucket

I think after this week I'm going to flip..... also the other plant is beginning to recover, so now I need to make some interesting decisions on how to proceed forward
