Mosquito Bits Thank You

@MeEasy. So far the bits soaked over night seem to be working. But I will try these next.

@MeEasy. I have also started baking the medium I am using. It is some leftover potting soil that was sitting in the shed. I have taken two clones from each plant and used the baked soil with bits added. All the bug infested clones I cut before went straight to compost.

Hello again @JaneQP I watered today with added bit juice I had seen some gnat bastards on Monday just a few but that’s always how it starts so I soaked some into my water but I didn’t see a single gnat I think the last dose was still working. Anyways got a couple new pics to share as well I’ll be making the switch to flower probably Monday :sunglasses:. Good day neighbor

They are looking great!!! I am cleaning up the lower larf tomorrow and then flipping! I am so excited. My closet is a jungle.

Pics to share?

I will get a picture of the jungle under good light tomorrow. I am such a noob. I got five clones each a different strain. Makes the grow space very tight but I can’t bring myself to toss one - so I have an oscillating fan running 24/7. I had to learn quickly since each strain has their own nutrient and water needs.

I have GG4, Golden Goat, Bordello, Sour Diesel and Skywalker OG. My GG4 is the most needy and the bordello is a very bushy strain.

I will have a lot of lessons learned from this grow for sure!

Nothing like jumping in with both feet straight into the fire lol

@MeEasy

Some pictures of the harem. Flipping today once I get all my room darkening items in place.

I’ve tried to grow a couple of times before and never got this far. I know I will never do a Sativa dominant indoors again!

They all look healthy and happy what more can you want. The only thing I would suggest is to cut out some of the biggest fan leaves to help with airflow because once in flower they drink alot which will bring up the humidity and unless there’s air movement the moisture will turn to mold

@MeEasy. Thank you for the advice! I have an oscillating fan running 24/7. During next weeks’s feeding and trim I’ll take a good look at the dense areas in the plants and open them up.

The gnats seem to be under control! I did order some trimmers and mini humidity meters for harvest. I also scored and actually found some H2O2!

@MeEasy. The day and daylight got away from me so flip is tomorrow.

I did prepare soil for new clones and the next run. The ā€œpotting soilā€ I have on hand is actually more of an amendment so I baked it at 180 for an hour (goodbye bugs and mold) and screened to a half inch to remove all the twigs and rocks. I added added perlite, coffee grounds and some mosquito bits.

I used it for the clones I took today with a different technique - adding the scraping step. All the clones I took in November died except 1. I also dried all the larf, crushed it and added to the mix.

I mean plants don’t walk to Home Depot for nutrients but live of the decay of the plant material left behind. I also cut my sticky traps in half and put one under each dome.

This is my change for my next grow. Avoid gnats and use a better soil composition.

@JaneQP I definitely understand how a day can get away from you, I’m getting older and I’m starting to lose dayS lol. I’ve never messed with clones but I’ve thought about it never say never, I just don’t really have a space for it. I have a few new strains I just bought to try out even a few autos to play with I’ve never grown an auto.

I started using a premixed product that makes your soil a living soil and you keep using your same soil over and over, they say that the soil gets better every time you use it. I’m on my second round with it and I’m happy with it 4sure. It’s a water only thing so it makes it so simple.

@MeEasy. I baked and reused the dead clone soil for my mix and plan to reuse the soil from my current grow after a bake. I know after has baked it won’t be living but better than our friends the gnats taking overšŸ˜€

I also have been proactive and have five gallons with cal mag for plain water day and five half gallons of nutes for nute day. It just makes it so much easier since Gary needs more cal mag and water than the other plants.

PS glad to meet you in cyberspace - you have been very helpful to this newb.

@MeEasy. I put the light blocking material over the window. Added two more layers of black sheets over the grow closet opening and flipped to 12/12 with light on from 9 to 9 to best coincide with the family schedule. Fingers crossed.

Had to water everyone again to day - they were already dry to the second knuckle. I am doing my veg nute mix until I see buds and then bloom mix.

I am actually thinking I may be able to finish a grow!

@JaneQP total darkness is very important so cover the little lights on your equipment with some tape or anything else that you see light coming from. Make sure you have fans running 24/7 the humidity will start going up. Other than that sounds like you’ve got things going good :+1:

2 fans 24/7. Every light source covered. Crossing fingers. Will check them after work.

@MeEasy. It was so hard not to peek in in on them this morning!!!

I switched over to flower today, I normally do a major defoliation when I flip them but I’m still not getting around good and not supposed to lift over 5 lbs, so it has to wait. Here’s a couple pics

Those look beautiful! I checked on the harem when I got home and I’ll be danged - a bunch of white pistols sprouted up overnight.

I am so excited!

I vegged the girls about 2.5 months since I had so many problems along the way as a new grower. I think they were ready to flip!

I did notice that with the extra care to make everything dark the temp and humidity has increased. 20C and 62%. Normally 17C and 50%.

They probably were they’ll start getting some preflower even before you switch if you wait to long or some will do it just because. Well here we go into flower the hardest part of growing, you get to watch and smell the slow growth of your buds
