For those that lst how do you like your plants to finish as far as number of tops go? Ive tried both extremes…working hard training for maximum amount of tops or trimming alot of the smaller ones to get fewer but larger colas. In my experience i yield 10-15% more going for more tops but its alot more work during the grow and especially come harvest time.
White Widow photoperiod in week 7. Trellis being installed in a few days and flipping to 12/12 a week after that.
My experience has been that with more tops you have smaller colas. Fewer tops with larger colas. You can over-train and end up with a bunch of larfy plant material.
I do like to supercrop and every other year I lean toward SCROG’ing but never see much difference in yield. Photoperiod only for me.
6-8 tops with no lst is my preference. I aim for a tallish slender profile when I can. I like vertical stacking opposed to horizontal. That’s just me though.
I do like showing off bud size when i keep a plant to just the main branches…usually 8 colas. I guess i get bored and like to play with them. But thats why im here is to hear people’s opinions.
Also my grow space is limited to a max plant height of 30 inches so thats why i lean towards horizontal growth
I top at the 5 th node and remove the first, then flatten out and do a modified manifold on them and train them to grow in a tomato cage I modified and get 8 main colas of respectable size, the cages keep the footprint small.
Agree totally.
Myself I normally do little to no training. Used to train every plant.
Now Ibdo it here and there. This plant in photo was done just because it is last run in this house. Looking for some bulk.
The way she is going I will have to do a very good clean inside to allow buds to get larger. A lot of thickness inside will create a ton of airy buds. I do that if I am using for oils as I can get a ton of weight. This 1 will get a lot of pruning throughout as I want all good flower to smoke.
Last run I beat the snot out of my Blueberry and pulled a pound off of her. This run I’m going to let them do their thing with minimal help. Only one way to find out lol
Im curious. What size container do you use, light wattage, and how large was the plant at the end?
My setup has limits and im fine with that as i have no need for producing more than i already do…usually 4-5 oz per plant. But a pound for indoor is impressive
Well she’s coming along, been slow the entire way…I’ve had a horrible time with this batch of seeds. Ended up vegging 9 1/2 weeks but now we are 2 days into 12/12. Kinda just want this grow to be over with so i can try these humboldt blueberry muffin seeds im excited about. She might surprise me yet, we’re dialed in with nutrients at about 70% strength and she’s happy with that.
Well your plant is looking great. You’ve got her shaped nicely.
I get that feeling of just wanting it over with though to move onto the next. I’ve got some GSCE seeds I bought on black friday that I’m itching to drop but don’t have a spot for them.
Well she’s 8 days into 12/12. I’m not quite ready to consider her in flower but the pistils are just starting to show in more than pairs so we’ll be counting flower days very soon. She’s still small but finally was able to accept a full strength feed 2 days ago and has been loving it! I never gave up on her and she wants to reward my patience. Have a great day everyone!
