This is my second grow and first with photos. I’ve had some light fade for about 2 weeks. I’ve pruned most of that because the leaves were drying out and Browning from a little excess P. There’s still a few white hairs, but they popped recently for the most part. Trichomes seem to be ready though but honestly I have a hard time delineating between clear and cloudy. What do y’all think?

Wait for the red pistils to draw back in then check the trichromes. Looking good!

Thanks! Most have already. There’s maybe 3 tops on Flora including the one in the photo that still have white hairs. Evie has a handful too but they all popped in the last week. I’ve read pistol coloration while a good initial indicator is strain and environment dependent. Evie appears to have maybe 20% amber to me and Flora is showing maybe 5% on the actual buds. To my eye the remaining trichomes seem cloudy. Are you seeing clear trichomes in the photos?

I’m seeing a mix. Sure are close.

Thanks! I’ve looked at a ton of examples to try and decide but swear that I’m clear white color blind or something. Evie has been gaining amber pretty rapidly and Flora has a toppled limb every other day so getting anxious.

I think I’m seeing some amber too. Is that on the bract or leaves?

The middle one you circled is on the sugar leaves. Most of Evie’s sugar leaves are like that with many going almost full amber. I read not to worry about that though. The other 2 are on the bract and calyx structures.

Gotcha. Yeah I’m just going off what I’ve read as well. I’ve harvested 2 too early due to weather and rot. I’ve not made it to what I’m reading as best window yet.

It’s a mix of art and voodoo magic I think. My last harvest was in the window but only because I asked on here for like a month. Definitely would have picked them too early otherwise. I was honestly expecting another 2 weeks too because the breeder claimed 90 days and I feel like most breeders give the early side of the window.

Looking close, how long they been flowering?

They’re on week 9 and will be at 60 days tomorrow which is the breeders estimated time to harvest. I usually guess that I’ll need a week or two past that but just seeing a lot of amber on Evie and Flora is starting to outgrow her limbs with weight. Had a main cola yesterday topple and twisted the limb all the way around. Not really sure how it didn’t break.

Thanks! I was targeting Thursday but might wait. Issue is then I’m pushed out a week and have to cancel something else scheduled for next weekend. Fingers crossed

If it was mine Id give at least another week and reevaluate. You want nearly all those white hairs to turn brown and recede. Then start checking trichomes for cloudy to amber. Those buds are still putting out new growth not a lot but enough that I would wait. There’s no fade showing on the plant yet either. Are you 9 weeks from flipping the lights. Then you would about 7 weeks of flowering. Breeders timelines are more a sales gimic then anything. Different environments and growing conditions can change all that. Never be in a hurry to harvest it can be the difference between ok weed and fire.

Thanks! Not so much in a hurry to harvest and more just seeing a lot of amber start to develop on Evie. I can’t really have a couch lock high when I medicate. Definitely don’t want an anxious high either but I need to be active. Also just have a hard time telling what’s clear once a significant amount of white develops. I’d of guessed 90% Milky until I posted the photos but think I see what y’all mean looking back at them. Definitely still monitoring and I’m leaning towards an extra week but may pull Evie earlier than Flora either way. The hairs are basically all recessed other than a few tops and a few late developing hairs on Evie. Evie also feels mostly expanded out on her bud structure but the tops of Flora look like they could maybe swell more. I’m starting to see that kind of snowy white look across Floras buds though and might be my imagination but feels like Evie’s are turning from a white to a more orange tint. I think I marked the flip to flower from appearance of bud sites not flip to stretch. I’d have to dig around a little to verify though. This is probably the most stressful part of the process for me honestly.

Oh and I haven’t seen much fade on Evie but she’s the one showing Amber. Flora has shown some decent fade over the last few weeks but I have pruned most of it just because I had low humidity and the leaves were Browning quick and didn’t want that around the bud structure.

Are you using a microscope

I’m using a microscope and a jewelers loop to watch them. The microscope didn’t have a wide enough field of view but I can’t seem to get a very good photo to post with the loop.
