Depends on the space, platform of led you’re working with, and how its put together.
I would imagine you would get better or more even coverage.
If you know each boards area of coverage, then you can offset them more to cover a larger area with the same amount to of light.
As they are assembled, they are not the most efficient at the area they can cover but the form factor works well for shipping and tents.
Cannot believe that it is Sunday night already! Where did thew week and weekend go???
Since this is my first true organic grow, I am undecided about it still. Feeding with microbes and a compost tea here and there is just weird.
They were defoliated a bit today to open them up a bit and then watered with microbes, Thrive-Alive and some compost tea. When i measured the PPM it was 100PPM, seems very light to me and this could be the cause of their smaller sizes. Think I need to look into some organic top dressing amendments to boost them during veg and bloom.
The GWK and NCH are doing great, smaller plants but very healthy and happy.
Berry Bomb is coming in 3rd with Sour Livers and 3 Bears OG trailing…
Sour Livers has been a battle since the start, next time will be much better! Think she does not like too much water and needed a boost of cal/mag to cure the light green leaves.
3 Bears OG was soaked, placed in paper towel till the white tap root emerged and was then placed into her final pot, she has not done too much since then and is small and fragile. I was hoping for a stunner.
Ages for the plants are:
GWK ± 4 weeks old
NCH ± 3 weeks old
BB ± 4 weeks old
SL ± 4 weeks old
3BOG - 3 weeks old
These are the smallest plants I have ever grown, so something in the system needs some serious tweaking!!
GWK
GWK developing buds!
NCH with awesome structure!
Berry Bomb is nice and bushy!
Sour Livers…
3 Bears OG
@Autobot-J I culled the little one tonight… It was actually growing well!
Lookin’good.
I’ve been eyeing three bears and sour livers.
No Sunday update due to Game of Thrones Finale… What a waste of time… And because I am fighting some deficiencies and seem to be talking to myself in this thread. LOL!
Anyway, I have been feeding them according to the manufacturers recommendations and things are going downhill slowly.
Before starting with this soil, I contacted the manufacturer to ask about it’s use with Autoflowers and LED and was told to use their normal feeding guideline and it would work amazingly well.
Most grows with this soil and feeding schedule is for photoperiod plants, so autoflowers are a bit of a challenge.
Feeding only microbes, cal/mag and compost tea and the leaves are losing their dark green color and lightening…
Everyone needed a good watering a feeding today and I had to make a choice…
Today I switched over to using my old Flora nutes, micro and bloom which always gave me great results and healthy plants. So much for organics this time! LOl!
I will also be trying out a newer line of organic nutes with my next grow and hoping they will work well together with the soil.
3 are flowering now, Grape Walker Kush, Northern Cheese Haze and Berry Bomb.
The 3 Bears OG is still struggling along and is the run of the bunch but I will let her do her thing anyway!
The Sour Livers is a very compact plant, seems to be the most light sensitive as she is super small, compact and bushy!
Lots of changes to be made for the next grow!
At least the room is nice and stable, so no issues there. Only change I may do is to add some intakes to use the cool air from the basement for passive cooling.
Also need to figure out the best height and wattage for the QB, thinking as high as I can go to use full power effectively but not sure I need all that power.
If anyone reads this, let me know what organic nutes you use and your feeding schedule.
Thanks!
Bummer it’s going south on you.
I grow in supersoil and add a tea watering and a “recharge” water solution every few weeks.
Hopefully someone with some organic nutrient knowledge will drop in.
It’s not really going South but not doing as well as I usually like.
I am a fan of nice, dark green leaves.
Even if I only get an Oz from this grow, it was learning the room and lights and new soil.
The room and light all work well together.
I may add some more perlite to the mix as well to make it a bit more airy as well.
I am sure the new nutrients will make a huge difference in the next grow.
Next grow may be bag seed so that may also be interesting…LOL!
Cool. I’m watching!
Everyone received 2 Liters of R.O water pH’d to around 6.3 for a good flush.
Will give them a few days to dry out and come to their senses and then give them a light feeding.
The GWK is frosting up nicely so far!
I’m trying the biobizz nutes in biobizz light soil, I can’t really comment on how good they are atm as I’ve been away and growth isn’t what I would have liked.
I am trying Reefertilizer for the rest of the grow.
Local, all organic fertilizer.
We will see how they recover as their first feed will be a bit later tonight!
It consists of 3 parts:
Myco, Grow and Bloom
After the flush they have perked up a lot, so I am sure they are hungry by now!
It’s been a bit since the last update and a few things have changed.
New nutrient line, Reefertilizer Organic and they seem to be liking them so far. Tiny bit of tip burn but the deficiencies seem to be easing up now.
The 3 Bears OG is still trying hard but I have no idea what it will turn out like…It’s 5 weeks old and no sign of sex yet but she keeps trying!
The GWK and NCH are the tallest plants and will yield some nice bud. GWK has some excellent trich formation so far.
The flush helped a lot and then feeding the new nutes using my BlueLabs Truncheon which is indispensable as well as the pH pen!
So far I think the QB has been working out well and the ladies seem to be happy. The GWK is always praying 100% of the time, amazing plant!
Have a few improvements planned for the next grow as well! Thinking of going soil with a reservoir so the plants can always drink when required, similar to an Octo-Pot.
Still deciding and looking around at various options and DIY tutorials.
Enough chatter! Let’s show the goods! for what it’s worth…LOL!
GWK bud
GWK plant structure
NCH bud
NCH plant structure
Berry Bomb top
Berry Bomb plant structure. Squat!!!
Sour Livers top bud
Sour Livers plant structure. Super squat and bushy!
And lastly the 3 Bears OG…
She puts out some massive leaves so I can see her potential when I get it right!
I decided to chop the 3 Bears OG kush yesterday…
She was just too slow and could not catch up with her internal clock.
She threw a few pistils and then the sacks were covered in trichomes but still growing in veg mode.
I also added a generous amount of worm castings to each pot and gave them a good light nutrient feed till they drained out the bottom. Also defoliated them a bit to expose more bud sites and for better light penetration.
Another 3 Bears OG Kush has been started as well!
I mixed the pot up with some new soil and quite a bit of worm castings. There are so many tiny worms in this stuff it is amazing!!
Took a bit a filled a red Solo cup up for the seed. I use 2 cups, one with the bottom cut off and I drill a hole through both of them about a 1/2 inch from the base.
Made up some 6.8 pH water with very light nutes and watered the Solo cup till run-off and the re-filled fabric pot. The Solo cup is sitting on the pot under a humidity dome and I should see some action by the end of the week. Once she is big enough to transplant, I will simply slip the outer Solo cup off and plant the cup in the final pot. Has worked very well for me in the past.
They have about a month to go for the GWK and NCH which are fattening up nicely!
The Berry Bomb is short and stout and smells amazing!
The Sour Livers also got stunted but she smells like fire!!
My wife commented on the nice smell in the house!! The room is pretty sealed with a carbon filter and in-line fan exhausting the air outside. Still smells wonderful inside at times!
I though I might as well start another auto now as when I harvest the other 4, I will replace them with Photo-Period girls. Thinking of a Sannie’s Killing Fields, Sannie’s Jack, bagseed Pink Kush for the other 2.
Lots learned so far with this first grow in a new room, new lights, new soil, new nutrients etc…
The LED will be moved up and left on at 1/2 power, thing is crazy bright!
Always water till run-off in fabric pots and do it slowly so it does not escape through the sides.
I need to install a wall mounted oscillating fan to move the air around more.
Install a small inline fan to bring in the cold basement air to regulate temps and help with fresh air exchange.
Research alternate pH UP solutions, the one I use now is powdered and raises my PPM considerably which is very annoying.
Redo the tape with higher quality, stickier tape! LOL!
Install a sub-floor to raise the pots off the floor…OR possibly make a drain table and have the plants sit on drain-able platforms.
So much to do, we will see what gets done! LOL!
A very long overdue update… Life is slowly getting back to normal and today was the day I shut the light off in the grow room!
Everything else was harvested too early except for the Sour Livers which needs to cure some more still.
The other ones are an intense rush straight to the head and then slowly tapering off, a bit racey for me.
The Sour Livers delivers a nice punch as she has quite a collection of amber, just what I like and need.
The 3 bears was grown in a double red Solo cup and then transplanted into a 9 gallon fabric pot, could not find a local 5 gallon on a Sunday.
She grew well and had a lot of big buds and smelled up the house like crazy! Even with the Vortex on full blast, she acted as if there was zero exhausting being done…
Outside was also an issue, albeit a funny one as neighbors kept commenting on whiffs of skunks in the hood and to be on the lookout! They are not common at all in my area…
She was fed compost tea, cal/mag and Thrive for veg period and Gaia Green Bloom for flower.
Finally after almost 100 days I am seeing amber heads here and there! Time for the chop!!
She smells like pure gas, a very strong Pink Kush type smell. Hope she dries and cures well and is just as potent when ready to vape and smoke!
The room needs some repairs and modifications to improve it’s performance before I start up again in a few months time.
Enough talk, here are the 3 Bears OG Kush pics!
Got Knuckles???
Harvest day! All her stakes and supports had been removed.
All manicured and ready to be hung to dry for around 5 days, depending on nug size.
A wonderful sight! and the smell is amazing!
These were the unfortunate few that got snipped off larger buds by mistake… The are drying in a paper bag and should be good for testing before the larger buds.
I will get a final weight once dry and before they go into jars. Added a small fan to the room to keep the air moving a tiny bit.
Temps at 20 Celsius and 45 to 50% RH. The weather is also cooling down so that will help!
Next update will be vape or smoke report!
