The only thing that shows you have to pay on mine is the CCT. I am going to check my defuser paper to make sure it’s the right weight and check my light again this evening. ![]()

Good morning friend. I did do some checking on the defuser paper I used and it was the wrong weight. I got my old one that I made originally (I stopped using it because it was getting ratty and it was too big for my phone) and my reading was so different. Oops! Ok with the right defuser on my phone I think I have been cooking my babies. The ppfd was over 1000. I have raised my light a bunch. Now the ppfd is at 950. Should I turn it down or is that ok? My owner manual says for flower reading of 800 to a 1000 is what they recommend.

oops
I like to pick the top of the canopy. It’s a good average of all my plants and not the tip top of the taller colas. Once I find that spot I set my ppfd to 8-900 at the start of flower increasing to 1000-1100 for weeks 3-5 or sometimes into week 6 and finally going back down to the 8-900.
I scribbled on this picture a long time ago to show it, but I started giving my photo plants a little more in the middle of flower, more like the arch shown for autos.
If your meter doesn’t show your DLI here is how to figure it
PPFD x (3600 x photoperiod) / 1,000,000 = DLI
This is your ppfd x (The number of seconds in an hour 3600 x the number of hours per day) ÷ 1 million which is the number of micromoles in a mole = your DLI
I have never gone by PPFD because I wasn’t sure what number I was shooting for. I think the meter I ordered does read DLI. I should have it tomorrow. I will go by the top of the canapé to get my readings.
Thank you so much for the formula to figure the DLI. I was doing some reading on how to get an accurate reading by recording it for 24 hours. Not sure of the hours.
Anyway I will give you an update tomorrow. Have a good evening and thank you for taking the time to educate me. ![]()

Are you saying you don’t understand this part?
It’s 3600x the hours your light is on per day… x your ppfd = Then divide that number by one million = your DLI
No no, I understand. I think I have a bad time explaining myself. I just was saying I have watched a YouTube video on how to determine DLI. but it did tell the formula like you did. I am happy to have the information you have given me. It’s much more complete.
Have a good day ![]()

KO
that’s great. I’ve been known to ramble on n talk in circles when I’m trying to explain something and it ends up being confusing
I know exactly, and communicating like this it’s easy to confuse stuff. ![]()

@MeEasy I received my light meter. I took a reading in the center of my tent at canopy level. Here is what it says. I am guessing it does tell DLI So how messed up is my light placement or the intensity I am 3 weeks from light flip. Three weeks and 2 days
That actually looks pretty good. You could increase it a little bit, closer to 50 but only for two or three weeks then drop it back down to where you are now.
I like to start out a little low , pound them in the middle, but finish up a little lower. This in my mind keeps me from pushing them to hard in the beginning when they are already eating like crazy while stretching. Push harder through the middle while the buds are growing. Then not so hard as they ripen up this protects the trichomes and terpenes from evaporation, drying, or even burning
Edit = wanted to add that the timing does change depending on the strain and how long it takes to flower. Obviously longer flowering plants you can push for more weeks in the middle keeping it down for the first n last two or three weeks
