This is naturally a small phenotype i am pretty sure. It hasn’t put on much height and i don’t want a whole lot. I am training 3 more plants that i need it to be level with. I am just trying to create more budsites. I know thats why i need more nodes but its not growing like that. It has a wierd structure. I guess i need to just top it a few more times. But i have 3 more that are busting at the seems and wanting to flower.
The phenos I’ve had like that, raising the light and giving space between nodes allowed me to supercrop it over when I topped again. This spread it out more and distributed nodes to become tops and node to pinch. All I was thinkin. Proceed with your vision.
Yeah, i got what your saying but i have those other 3 i have to worry about too. Once i switch to flowering they are going to stretch big time. I just ended up topping it again at one site to make another top. So instead of 5 tops i’ll have 6 now and thats not entirely bad because they will still grow big enough to make up for the many it could’ve had. They will get pretty heafty getting all the nutrients.
If you have other plants that you want to be closer to the light, just put those on something to raise them up closer to the light and make the short one stretch for the light.
I used to fim but moved to manifolds and like them pretty much. Topped these today and split all into six main branches that I will top one more time into two limbs on each main, for 12 even colas. You can use a booster to get them even to the light.
Got 7 really nice clones from the topping too!
I guess raising them would work. I need to look up how to Manifold also… thank you!
That helps thanks. I think i am just going abstract on this one, topping and bending as she grows. I have no special plans for it other than just making as many tops as possible and keeping them all the same level.
No prob. I understand… I rarely follow my own plan.
You got this. Keep kickin’ bro.
It is looking like the pH drifted again because the growth has slowed down again so i am assuming. I am breaking out my BluLab soil pH meter that is still in the box yet… LOL
I have some Dolomite Lime on the way to stabilize the pH. It only takes a teaspoon per 5 gallon pot and i am to top feed it and water it down in. It will raise the pH and keep it at 6.0. I think what is happening is that once the medium starts drying back it takes the pH down with it for some reason on this plant. I really want this plant to make it. Its the Sweet Island Skunk, the only one i have. I just know its going to be a kick arse bud to smoke.
Those really look nice and clean. I usually try to pick all the smaller growth off the stalks myself so that all the energy goes into the main cola without the little hangers on. Sometimes i leave a few if they look strong enough but that little stuff i pick it off when they start they’re stretch. Its easier for me to see them. I get afraid i will remove a strong stem by accident.
@Budbrother @Caligurl
I really appreciate the help. I am hesitant on making them stretch anymore because once i flip to flower they really take off under this HLG 700 watt Rspec with Far Red in it. They really explode! I understand exactly what your saying because my 2nd grow i had the lights too high and they were getting lanky.
I’m sure you have it planned all out.
What PPFD are you recommending? I have a dimmer and i am 3 feet from the canopys at about 400 PPFD. @Budbrother @Growdoc
At their size, I’d say 400-500 and you can go up 50 every couple days as they grow and acclimate to the light increase.
I raised my light another 6 inches and lowered the PPFD to 350 to get them to stretch a little, right? I do need to get some more ProMix into the pots before i initiate flowering. It compressed pretty badly and i have about 4 inches i can fill up. I thought about what you guys were saying and if i can get them to raise up off the top soil a little so i have room to fit more ProMix into the pots. Or should i just raise the PPFD up to 500 and wait until flowering when they will raise up off the ground anyways?
I am confused, on the fence on what i want to do.
I do know that little Sweet Island Skunk isn’t doing that great. The pH has drifted again and growth has slowed and its not drinking or eating. The other 3 pots are getting light while this one is still saturated with moisture.
That means she is not drinking. Do you have any runoff numbers?
Filling them up will give some fresh media but we need to figure out what is wrong with the one. If you get some numbers, hit me up.
@Growdoc ok, i took a soil reading after i calibrated my BluLab soil pH probe meter. I got 6.1 pH towards the root zone. I took it it a couple different spots and they all read 6.1. I guess i could drop it a couple maybe 5.9 would be more cozy?
5.9 is right on the money but they should be ok at 6.1 too. Did you get a pom reading?
