I may be taking over Mr Vet’s beer fridge out in the shop . Oh, I have a mini fridge, in the office (that I don’t go to very often ). Next time I go in I’ll have to bring it home. New cuing station.

What is it about the cold cure that you prefer Kap? I remember reading your review but don’t remember why you liked it

It seems to keeps the terpenes stronger, and also seems to develop them a bit more.
Take the Cherry Noir for example… When kept in the cold, the cherry/fruity taste is a lot more intensive and you can taste it on the inhale as much as on the exhale.
When left curing at room temperatures, it was also very good, but a bit less ā€œsharpā€ on the taste. You could taste the fruity taste mostly on the exhale…

Nothing scientific, but you can really taste the difference. So that’s why I cure everything in the cold now…

Perfect!! I’m going to try this with this next harvest. Especially the Sob with the fruity pebbles terp

Just to make sure, I dry them hanging out in my ā€œdrying cornerā€ as usual. Then when they are ready to be jarred and burped, I start the fridge part…
And when I burp them, I would do it while keeping the jars in the fridge so as not to introduce to much condensation…

Got it! Although I’m sure I’ll hit you up again when the time comes

I’ve gotta say, I’m really liking the sounds of this fridge curing mate, and yeah that does make sense to burp in the fridge so as to not get all that moisture forming.

I had planned on storing my stuff in vacuum sealed bags in the freezer once they were ready though. Any thoughts on if that’d hurt the final product? I’ve also been thinking about condensation once removed from the freezer??

I store mine in jars in the freezer with no issues. But it can’t be a ā€œfrost freeā€ freezer is what I was told

Oh cool thanks for that @AfgVet
I wonder what the difference is with a frost free other than the fact that they run through a defrost cycle but that doesn’t affect the temp of the food?

It has to do with condensation I think. MyFriend 410 was the one to explain it to me, but I forgot the ā€œextraā€ stuff in his explanation. I’ll see if I can find it

Found it.

Oh wow hey thanks for that link @AfgVet :purple_heart:

I had wondered if the vacuum sealer would crush the buds? I’ve bought one for this very purpose but haven’t actually used it for anything yet - not even food. That’ll change before our annual big Australia Day camping trip in a months time though :australia::cut_of_meat::bacon::desert_island::camping::tada::bikini::dark_sunglasses::tropical_drink::swimming_man:

I put buds in the vacuum bags for my sister when she brings it back home. She’s never complained. They are great for containing the smell
