Thank you @Bunger64 all the lights out there, all the options, I needed a way to see them compared. That’s why I initially made the charts, glad it has helped some members make decisions.
Would like to revise and update with newer fixtures.

I love the bar lights compared to the panels more of a heat generation i guess. If i dont turn them down in the flower tent it gets a little toasty on the head and kneck. Lol.
@Low love some input on my light set up in my shorty 4x2x5’ tent.
I have 3 100w visosun vs1000s daisy chained and H-barred together. They hang about 4 1/2 ft from the floor. I’m confident my wattage can exceed flower requirements. My question is can I set in a dynamic position and dial intensity from germ-flower. I’d rather give a booster chair than move lights. I used photo tone for rough but don’t trust. Par meter one day when I win lottery. Looking for a hell ya that’s what I do or hell no dum ass. Move them lights. Lol
I’ve read and reread visosun book but not much on dynamic placement.
What’s going on brother man, curious of the dimensions of the area you are trying to illuminate.
4x2x5’ are the dimensions. I put exhaust outside to raise lights more. Getting ready to bundle wires more permanent. I think it should be fine, but sometimes I second guess myself.
Ok so each fixture can handle about 2.8 square feet without reflective walls. Daisy chained with 3 should handle your space appropriately, with maybe a 3” drop off around the parameter, again, the math isn’t based on reflective walls. All in all, I’d say you are in good standing. Make sure they are spaced appropriately from each other and the “walls.”
Here is a similar mock up using cocoforcannabis calculator
Light Fixture | Usable PPF (µmol) | Photon Efficiency (µmol/w) | Cost | Cost Efficiency ($/µmol) | Power Draw (watts) | Benchmark Harvest (grams) | Coverage (Sq. Feet) | Fixtures Needed | Total Cost |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
VS1000E | 183 | 1.83 | Check Prices | $0.00 | 100 | 137 | 2.8 |
Awesome. Will space from walls equally. Thanks my man for reassurance.
You got it
I’m such a stoner. I want to keep them in a static position.
I like to try and position mine to a point where they grow into it also. Usually max the wattage as high as I can comfortably at a certain distance. Let them grow into it and dim or raise to suite my desired intensity. Raising our flower lights are a PITA
Going to find a budget friendly par meter. Tired of raising lights as well.
That’s one of the benefits of a scrog. I usually set the net at a certain ppfd for veg and then through transition they stretch into the intensity. Saves some adjusting.
I think the cheapest I’ve seen is around $155 on amazon.
Good point on net. I’ve yet to try scrog. Got given some dosi do whoa photo seeds, so may be coming in near future. Thanks my man.
@Low got a question. Is there a controller/ one you can point me to that will control the Spider Farmer G5000 light.
Do they have any smart controllers yet? If not perhaps ac infinity but you’d need a specific cable.
Thanks. I’ve not found one put out by Spider Farmer. I’ll look into the AC infinity.
Spider farmer has one on there web site but it is sold out. I would contact them and see when its going to be back in stock or if they have an alternative.
I wonder if the mars hydro smart hub would work?
Went with AC infinity. Talked to a guy there and explained my situation. He said the 69pro+ would work with my light. So I grabbed it. Plus a few other things, total came out to about $400 but had a code I found on the big wide web that took off $47. I reckon I’ma be a Farmer now paw! Now on a different note. I’m still a little unsure about the light par, ppfd stuff. So I been doing some studying on that. I figure I’ma need a meter. Seen this one on Amazon.
I went the same route as @low and got the photobio meter. Its unfortunately twice the price of that one you listed on ebay for a brand new one, but its worked well for me. I havent gone overboard or under with the lights as long as ive been using it
