I had one of my garden friends visit me today on the deck and asked me if I planned on planting any more fruit and when the bush beans would potentially be ready. He also thanked me for planting the new replacement squash (that’s came up nicely)
Shoot, I fried some of my cukes. Never add that extra half tsp of Alaska fish fert.
I had an by old bottle I wanted to use up. First dose of the season. Hopefully they recover. I flushed the bed w the hose…,
Once I mixed up who was getting fed what and gave a flowering girl some guano tea a couple days before harvest. Talk about shitty buds
Well I got a lot of accomplished. I went down about 7 in in the 6x6 and 6x3 garden beds and turned everything over and mixed in some cow well mixing the garden bed I noticed how beautifully alive that soil is. There’s tons of worms still crawling around inside there and it was nicely colored.
So I got 12 bush bean seeds in the 6x6 area and 12 more beans in the 6x3 the cow manure should feed them for 30 days if I’m correct on that. At that point I’m going to switch over to an all purpose organic granule feed. I believe it’s 444 and they say one feed per month.
We’ll see what happens
Is your manure composted?
LOL! i was thinking you were talking fresh. My bad. I was going to warn you against it without composting first.im an organic gardener.
Fresh off the old block. Ha
Cant get fresher than that!!
The way I eat I can feel that bucket
I heard the same thing about the warm soapy water mix but i also agree with @PogueMahone
I’m case anybody is interested in proven results.
So about 5 to 7 days ago I ran out of nutrients for the outdoor garden (what’s left of it)… rather than run out on a busy day to get some new replacement nutrients my daughter-in-law said there’s some under the sink.
It’s an all-purpose 5-5-7 liquid nutrient called Nutri 1 (she bought it at Ollie’s for like $3) hey you got to feed your garden so I used it followed up the next day with some pH water and calcium magnesium.
I noticed the tomatoes started popping up like crazy. I look along the fence there’s nine new cucumbers. I go to water the green peppers they’re actually flowering.
Is this a coincidence? I don’t think so. I think I actually by accident found something the entire garden likes 5-5-7
I don’t know if I can find the exact brand but I’ll try. I do believe this could be a game changer (for what’s left)
Ollie’s is still in business? Looks like you got the garden happy. Fresh cucumber and tomatoes straight from the garden are the best. My maw maw kept a shaker of salt and pepper mix in the shed just to take in the garden to eat maters of the vine.
Yeah there’s lots of ollies around here. Always find something on sale. I always eat the tomatoes straight off the vine.
Outdoor garden still hanging in there. The new bush beans have all popped and are growing fine. They’re about two and a half inches tall. They got their mulching yesterday.
From what I’ve seen it’s about a 90-day cycle for these bush beans. Not quite confident that they’re going to reach that with the temperature currently displaying late fall temps already. I fear November will crush them. We shall see.
With the new fertilizer mixing a feed once a week and then calmag 6.5 ph’ed waterings in between have proven totally accommodating to the entire gardens approval.
Vivid red cherry tomatoes daily. Bi-weekly harvest bigger tomatoes and about 4 cucumbers a week. Can’t ask for much more than that.
If you recall, about a month ago a squirrel chewed through the entire stalk of the well-producing summer squash. The couple replacement squash plants have come up and are growing nicely with unfortunate pest eggs developing under the leaves. Today I’ll be making a batch of neem oil with soap detergent to treat them.
Green peppers have finally reached that 2-1/2 - 3ft height with very dark green healthy leaves. They’re starting to flower and Bud but have not seen the pepper yet all season. (Still a slight shot of Hope)
I definitely learned a lot this season unfortunately total loss and chaos were the main curriculum to learning. I do believe with what I’ve learned I can boost my outdoor garden game by 50% more positive results next season. Sometimes we become our own worst enemy in the garden!
The most valuable lesson that I learned was that I don’t know at all and I’m far from it. I leave my ego at the gate.
Peace brothers and sisters
You got this its all a learning process!!
I have lots of cherry tomatoes, the plant is 6’ and still growing. I have not seen a tomato larger than a walnut, squirrel eats them before the begin to turn. Squash and Pumpkin rule the day, neighbors will be getting mystery deposits of squash.
