Long Term Storage ILGM Seeds ---Should I pierce the packaging?

Hello…I received several new strains of ILGM seeds.
They were packaged in small “puffed up” and sealed plastic pods.
I am storing them in a mason jar, in a small refrigerator.
Should I pierce this plastic pod for best storage practices?

Thanks in advance!

No, leave the package intact.
Don’t want the seeds to dry out and refrigerators have moisture removal built in to keep foods dry.
I just store mine in a cool dark drawer in the original packs. I have germed seeds over two years old at this point.

For storing those new ILGM seeds, I think you’re on the right track with the mason jar and refrigerator setup. As for the puffed-up plastic pods, I’d suggest leaving them as they are. The pods are probably sealed to keep the seeds fresh, maybe with some kind of protective gas inside. Piercing them might let in moisture or air, which could be bad news for seed storage.

Just keep them in the mason jar in the fridge, and you should be good to go. The jar will help protect the pods from moisture, and the fridge will keep the temperature steady. If you ever have doubts, you could always reach out to ILGM directly for their take. But I’d say, for now, leave those pods sealed and let the seeds stay cozy in there!

Hope that helps!
