Light too harsh?

Hello beautiful people, these guys are from a relatively unknown seedbank, so this could just be genetics. But is this tacoing? Or normal for these plants, if not, what could be the cause of this, they haven’t gotten any real nutes yet and In a very light soil mix. The light is viparspectra xs1500 pro at 12in, 25%, which would put the ppfd around 200-250

No.

Media looks very wet: small plants need very little water FYI.

That is a good answer, maybe their small solo cups couldn’t handle 100 ml, stepped up to real watering instead of misting because their soil was drying too fast but ill tone it back some now.

Way to much at this point. It only needs a few ml of water per day.

Cannabis tolerates dry soil far better than wet soil. Let the soil dry out between waterings. Roots need oxygen, and they can’t extract oxygen from soil that is constantly wet.

@MidwestGuy is spot on. Media that’s kept too wet will cause the seedlings to shoot up and damp off and die. They need little water now.

Just use a clear Solo cup as a dome, mist inside with distilled water and you will be fine.

Maybe its the pot size, I watched someone grow with autos and they started with 100 and the plants grew beautifully. This is how I’m doing it however, so thank you for ur advice

And when will they need real water? They are 12 days as of now

I normally recommend potting up as soon as the plant is larger in diameter than the Solo cup. Water sparingly until the potted-up plant is the diameter of the new pot then water to runoff.

G’day Doc , it seems my pet peeve is popping up a lot lately , maybe someone of your calibre on this forum should give an educational lesson into this . I personally dont have the problem as I don’t use soil , only at the establishment phase when the the seedling has a small root system in rockwool cubes , I pot them in raising mix until they go into the hydroponics and clay balls . I’ve been doing it like this for the last 12 or so years (easier to manhandle was the main reason) with great success . I’d say overwatering is 80% of early problems in soil . Peace .

I’d say at least 80%. Overwatering will cause them to stretch and fall over, damping off. They only need a few mls of water until they get a root system going. Soil is different than other mediums as it needs to stay moist in organic, drench to drought with salt nutes. That’s why coco works so well, you can’t overwater it except in seedling stage. Mine have roots hitting bottom a week after sprouts, I give another week and transplant, water out away from the stem until they are established, then full water to runoff.

Not sure about that, in a world of 45s, I’m just a 22….. gun reference there.
