Let's talk DIY lights

Yea yes wanted to incorporate a uv strip in the middle parallel to the 1120s and I’d like to find 2 that fit perpendicular between the space on my 600s

Even if the edges hang off by and inch on each end I could deal with that
not sure on the width of the v2 rspec 600s but maybe 2 280 side by side will fit right taped up to the heat sink with an independent driver of course … what’s the highest intensity UVA uve ran across for building material… or I should re phrase what ones do you suggest are gonna be best benifits from… are they 300 to 380 range is that uva band? I’m guessing the numbers I dont know what is uva range and what uvb range… is there benifits in both or is a good and b bad?

You would probably want 280mm strip, cutter may have it. Last I knew the only uv band to create increase in cannabinoid in scientific study was uvb. Other studies have refuted this, and some have reported similar increases with violent and blue wavelengths. I don’t use any uv, but I do have some violets in my light.

You know I said the same thing to a fellow on here I was speaking about uv bar from hlg …I coulda swore it was uv b as in the hlg 30 uv bar … I woulda sworn it was uv b but the hlg uv is a uv a … i thought I remembered reading b was the resin enhancer but I was corrected with a lil research into the hlg bar

That isn’t a study of any sort.

Not saying it was a study I just noticed the one hlg sold was uva … I dont know which is which cuz I though I read uv b was the one you want

I’m not sure what the relevance is suppose to be. If enough people ask for something, why wouldn’t they?

It confused me and I never got around to researching why they us a in there bar

I don’t know either, but if I had to guess it’s because they are cheap and someone somewhere thought they were beneficial.

I get what your saying I just would hope that hlg would have the one that was well desirable… I need to do independent research which I thought I had done but after seeing hlgs bar it made me second guess the stuff I read …was it me getting a and b mixed up but you say just cuz they make it dosent mean its particularly what I was reading about I just thought I might have got them mixed up

@dbrn32 you mentioned a discount code for HLG in a thread a while back. Is there a
code you have and is is available to anyone wishing to purchase one of there products?
Any chance, would you be willing to let me know what it is? I want to pull the trigger on
the 260 Rspec in the next few days.

Very much appreciated

I’m not suppose to post because they affiliate codes that belong to people outside of the forum. As such, I don’t want to create a situation where it appears we are above the rules. Im confident you would find 10% off pretty quickly by doing Google search though.

I apologize, I assumed that HLG gave generic discount codes to the various growing forums to promote their products. I wasn’t asking for a personal discount you might have or use.
I’m an assertive person and pretty straight forward but I know what lines NOT to cross LOL

38" x38" to the outside of heat sinks

I understand. I don’t have personal discount code either. It’s just that the codes I’m aware of are affiliate codes of others. I’m not suppose to let others post affiliate links or codes outside of the forum, so I don’t want to be hypocritical and do it myself is all.

Were you able to find one?

I have an old original Phototron, with the original u tube lights.
I am determined to grow in this box. I’m probably going to go hydroponic.
Should I be upgrading or adding to my lighting?
And what’s the deal with the red lighting I have read about.?
Thanks for your help.

There was 2 guys here that said they had them in the past. Monkman and someone else I don’t remember.

Depends on what red light you are talking about. 660nm maybe? That is commonly called photo red, it has extremely high photosynthetically efficiency. Fluorescent light should provide some.

I’ve been chatting with Monkman. He suggested I run lighting by you.

Would it help if I put some LED lights in, in addition to the tube lights? If so, can you suggest anything?

Probably. Those twister flouro’s were great at the time, but are now something like 40 year old tech.

My biggest concern would be altering the condition of your phototron. If it’s in good condition, I would think it’s worth some $. Wouldn’t want you to screw that up. If you think you could get something in it without changing much I would be happy to help.
