Picked up the cooler today. Turned out to be a compressor type. Oh well only 10 dollars. I’ll do something with it. Be a good project to see if I can mount some peltiers in. Will have to go on back shelf for now to much other stuff going on.
The outside of the buds were super dry locking moisture in and I used the rh at 64% stacked to soak up some of the moisture. It loosened the outside a bit then I put shelves back in an it’s now holding 60/63%
Here it is stuffed with Louis XIII buds. Just emptied first tray of condensed water so it’s working as expected!
Think I may just have to bite the bullet and get a larger koolatron and reset everything. This little one might be too small to stabilize.
Don’t throw your old filter away!
Turns out carbon filters are made with the perforated stainless steel that’s perfect for rack sheets. Need a grinder and tin snips, but hey…
I refill my filters, but you can just buy hardware cloth and cut to fit .![]()

@Growdoc hey man so I got my carbon filter in yesterday and I got it set up in the corner but man when I woke up this morning it still smelled like weed outside my house. How long does it take to get all the old built up smell out do you think? I don’t have it mounted in the air I have it sitting in the corner blowing up recirculating. When I put the fan in the filter to set it up I tried to put a clamp around it and it didn’t make a difference but it was a very very loose fit I had to wrap some insulated tape around the fan where it goes into the filter to make it fit. I’m trying to see what’s going on now because I figured the smell would have been gone by now so I’m wondering if it’s because of the way I have it set up, or maybe my filters not good, or maybe it just takes a while to start working?
I don’t connect my fan directly to the carbon filter. I use dryer ducting in between then, clamps down tight.
Okay yeah I was wondering if that was what was supposed to happen cuz when I tightened the clamp like that it did nothing at all LOL so a small piece of exhaust is supposed to go in between?
@DanB oh they didn’t give me that. You had to buy that separate or it came with your stuff?
Mine came as a kit. Fan, filter, black vent pipe, and coupler
Could go to your local hardware store and buy one, home Depot , Lowe’s , ace, harbour freight, tractor supply.
@DanB well I put some insulated tape around it and made it work but like I said when I woke up this morning I still smelled this s*** in front of my house, I figure the smell is in the walls maybe that’s why I still smell it I don’t know this is crazy I’m wondering if the carbon filter even works for the smell. I’m wondering if I NEED to put it above my light? In wondering if I SHOULD exhaust It in the wall or attic is that would help any
I mount my filters up near ceiling as smells and heat rises. Not sure it makes a difference, just out of the way up there too.![]()

@Growdoc yeah I was thinking that too about the smell rising but somebody told me it’s not going to make a difference that the smell is going to go through the room regardless. But what do you think about exhausting it versus recirculating in the room? I don’t have any heat problems and I have Central AC in the room
Mine is exhausted to the outside.![]()
Hey @Jayjay504 is this smell because of the DryDoc or living plants? If plants in a tent, it should filter the tent, not the room. You want to have a negative pressure in the tent so smell is contained and smelly air suck out thru the filter into the room the tent is in.
If it’s aromatic because of the drying buds, can you put your DryDoc in a small room and vent the fan to the outside? Sitting on the floor like that still allows smells out thru windows and under doors, the smell is everywhere. You need to contain it and filter it to the outside of that room. Even put the DryDoc in a tent and filter the tent if you can/need to.
Crude analogy…think of it like farting in a room then wait 5 minutes and try and suck it up with a vacuum. Everyone in the room can still smell it. But if you farted into that vacuum, no one would notice (the smell)…they’d think you were weird with a vacuum hose up your ass, but a blind man wouldn’t notice!
You’ll never suck all the smell out with it in the middle of a room, the smell is still being generated faster than you can clean the air.
It’s funny, went for a walk with Sheba yesterday down the trail, can smell weed in a few backyards along the trail! Same smell in my backyard, and my plants are 20 feet away from a bus stop!
@Spudgunner okay well first off I’m not in a tent at all I’m in a small room attached to my bedroom. I do not have a dry dock and I’m not drying anything at the moment so yeah the smell is from the living plants
Ok, then can you seal that room and filter the air out into your room?
I remember back in the '80’s there was a product called NonScents or something like that…was like a mesh bag that contained ionized porous rocks or something like that. Was supposed to absorb odours from the air. I guess it worked, the people upstairs (we rented the basement) never noticed the smell.
Was great that place…they paid 60% of the hydro bill and I was running a 1000w and a 400w HPS lights!
