Lens suggestions for Macro Photography

Hey guys I am a new grower and just finished my first grow. I am also a hobby photographer who purchased a Cannon eos 2000d last year and would like to find a good lens for up close bud/tric photos without breaking the bank. I’ve looked at a few but figured this might be a good place to ask for suggestions and personal experience. Thank you in advance for any information :blush: :heart: Happy Growing :blush:

You can get extension tubes to fit your existing lens that are relatively inexpensive.

I apologize but Im not very knowledgeable on my camera or photography in general but am working on changing that. I’m not sure if any of my current lenses are capable getting good clear tric pictures or not.

I use extension tubes on my DSLR for all of my macro-photography. They work great and are really inexpensive.

I use a Nikon DSLR. The extension tubes that I use were purchased decades ago when I was using film in a Nikon F2. I generally use manual focus and exposure control when doing macro photography.

With the correct extension tubes, your existing lenses will to a great job.

It is worth noting that you can stack the extension tubes for even closer shots. The object will get VERY close to the lens (depending on the focal length of the lens) if you do that, so be careful. I hate getting sticky crap on my lenses. I use a UV filter to protect the lens but I hate cleaning that too. LOL

@SqbodyMama there out there I’ve got a aunt who takes close-ups i will ask her she takes stuff dew dripping off the spider webs and stuff like that

Does a great job if you’re just inspecting your triches.

I have a pretty decent microscope for inspection but really enjoyed this first grow and capturing the beauty and diversity of these plants has become a bit of an itch :grinning_face:

Thank you everyone @merlin44 I really appreciate your suggestion. I have a set of extender tubes for the cannon headed my way to try out at less than 10% of the cost of the lenses I was looking at :heart:

If you use a zoom lens with your extension tubes, the zoom can function as a course focus. My preference is to use one of my zoom lenses with the extension tubes.
