Freezer drying or freeze drying?
@Docnraq
Kinda like the same. But using your own freezer at home. Not the machine they sell to freeze dry. I found this two post in 420 magazine.
1
Ed Rosenthal recomends freeze drying. The cold keeps the terpentines fresher. The freezer connected to your fridge is frost free! Meaning it has a built in evaporator that draws out all moisture! The bud dries slowly without loosing the potency you would if you are drying in above 65 degree temps.
Person 2
I have done it on my last harvest and am going to do on my next.
If you already an area to dry your plants that is less than 65 degrees this won’t be of much benefit. However. If you …like me, do not have an area to dry your plants less than 65 degrees… this is a great way to go.
Ed says to dry for a few days first till just the outside of the buds are dry. Then to put in the freezer till the stems of the buds snap. At that point do you put the buds in the mason jars for storage.
This is exactly what I did on my last harvest and my buds are perfectly cured. Perfect moisture! The buds crumble and yet are still moist! Excellent Smell!! Connoisseur Quality Bud!!! Perfect!!!
They are not the same. Freeze drying is when you put something in a vacuum chamber while you simultaneously pull its temperature down. This lowers the boiling point of the moisture contained in whatever you have in the chamber. This dehydrates whatever it is without much of any physical change to it.
Food manufacturers freeze dry a lot of products. I have worked on freeze dryers in a taxidermy shop before. This was a very interesting process to witness. The freeze drying would preserve little birds and animals much as they went in the chamber. But the fish that he did, he would first freeze dry the fish, and then use this fish to make a fiberglass mold. Then he would produce a fiberglass replica of the original fish. After this his wife would airbrush the fish with great detail, and the fish that she would paint. Looked like someone had just pulled it out of the water. I would kid the taxidermist that his wife was the real artist in the shop, and he never argued my point.
I would not put my weed in a freezer or refrigerator either one, as it will dehydrate in either.
Looking good I’m about to get ready for this out door grow. My friend gave me a few seeds of a strain he made its sour diesel with clementine kush. I have some sour diesel and day wrecker hybrid clone. But it’s still small and I have no place to put it so it’s in with all my other ones and is on 10 hrs of light. So this little small clone is going to start to flower with all the rest
I got two seeds for outdoor. No pot. Just straight into ground. Because I don’t think I have enough time after this harvest to do another indoor fog row. . I’m going on vacation for three weeks to PR in June. So don’t want to have any indoor plants to worry about. Once I finish this 4 plants. Will do two photos outside. OG something. Some strain by blinburm. Or whatever the name is. At least them three weeks they can have soil water or whatever. once I come back. Start again inside. But getting a bigger tent and maybe get some photoperiod seeds for a 4x4 tent I’m trying to buy. But that’s is down the road. Summer time.
Wish I had a 5x5
@Docnraq, a 4x4 maybe easier to fit lighting into. Something like three 350Rs would be best in my 5x5. In order to get the spread and the amount of light needed. While a single 650R would do fine in a 4x4.
The extra space of the 5x5 is nice, 25 square foot vs 16, and this is a big difference. It requires more of lighting and ventilation than one would think, just by reading 4x4 vs 5x5, (this is actually close to a 40% increase). Also once the plants start filling up the tent. You need to maintain the plants from outside of the 5x5 tent also.
I got 3 viper spectra p1000. 300 watts altogether. On the 3x2 it got really hot. Had to take one out and still had a little intensity problem inside tent. But things seems to be under control now.
Ok. Done that on flowering plant. Not the baby. The one starting to look pale with the 18 colas. Sledge hammer. Ph going in at 6.8. The thing is still draining. Ph coming out is 6.7. But the ppm is 2384.
Should I feed ? With that high lvl ppm. I know she just got flushed. Or should I continue pumping more water into her. I got no more water ready. Just for one feed for her. I flushed her with three times her volume
Cuba libre shot with the phone on top of jewelers loupe. This is a shot of the middle buds. The top buds are more abundant with amber. Have been feeding just water for the past week just in case.
Will try to get a shot of top buds.
Randy I just posted on hippies page so I had to come tell you about affirm man. It’s an app that lets you buy now and pay later. That’s how I bought my light and my hydro set and my tent. And you pay monthly. For the light I’m paying 108 a month. For the hydro set. 20 a month. I love this app. There’s also another one it’s called Afterpay. Go check it out. And it doesn’t hurt your credit score.you can pick up a bigger tent and pay monthly for it. But listen I bought a 5by 5 by 80 for a hundred bucks. On Amazon. I could send you the link if you’d like. But that’s a bargain. Everything I saw that size was like 170 or better so I lucked out.
Yeah. I’m looking at a very cheap one on Amazon. 53 bucks. Cheap stuff. But I won’t buy now. Going to wait for summer grow when I get back from vacation. Going to finish this one. And move outside for summer months.

Remember 4/20 isnt far away and every grow supply company associated in any way with cannabis is going to be having deals.
I spent like an hour going through different sights befor I bought the tent. And for the size I paid o my a hundred bucks for it on Amazon. But remember go look into affirm.you can buy it no money down and pay for it on a monthly bases. Or weekly it’s up to you. I’m paying for mine monthly.
Help needed. I feed a plant Monday . Was not supposed to be fed. Getting tip burn. Very fast. Can I add water today to wash out the nutrients In soil. Even tho I watered Monday with nutes after a sledgehammer flush. But ppm was 3k in flush runoff and I fed after that. Now Noticed tip burn increasing fast. On plant number 3. Pot is not dry a bit heavy on water weight.
You can flush with ph water.
Thank you. Will do.
Nice find on the tent wow that’s cheap I paid N extra 50 dollars for just an extra foot. I paid 100 bucks for mine and it’s a 5by5 by 80. That’s tent is perfect. And only 50 bucks wow can’t beat that
@Docnraq found it. My runoff collection will never be the same again. 5 dollars at a restaurant depot.
@Papo17 yeah. That’s a good deal. I just got greedy. Who the hell grows 4 plants in a 3x2. Yeah. Me. Thank God I keep them short. But still running out if room here.
