Jonny Utah Grow Journal OG and mystery sativa

I ran my 3-260xl’s all the way up when I first got em. My plants did not like it. Made the same mistake when I added the 2-550’s. Again my plants did not like it. I usually don’t make the same mistake twice. Taking on too much in one day probably played a role. It was after midnight by the time I got everything back in the tent temporarily. That’s just my experience. There are others here that run theirs wide open and love it, and their plants seem to love it as well. Just didn’t work for me. I would start out at whatever distance you choose and watch the plants. They will tell you what they want . Lights closer, lights further, more intensity or less. I hope that I haven’t muddied the water too much. Things work differently for different people. The only given with growing weed is that there are no givens. Be safe and Stay HIGH :+1: :tumbler_glass: :v:

You haven’t muddied the water at all. I’m more looking for starting points so I can learn more about how this whole process works. The part I am most unsure about is diagnosing symptoms, so I have been using this form for exactly that. And you have been helpful, so I really appreciate it.

I also tend to forget that experience is key, and you can’t research your way out of everything.

Cheers!

Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone!

As you can tell by the pictures, the plants are loving the HLG light. I currently have it set for 24in from the canopy and it’s on full power. So far I haven’t seen any issues with leaf burn so I’ll keep those settings.

The blurple light plants aren’t growing as rapidly, but still look pretty good. I am very happy I pruned when I did because it exposed so many more bud sites.

So far still no nutes. The plants have been in the new soil for almost two weeks, so I think we’re good for a couple more.

I do need a little help though. I have limited headspace in my tent coming in at 5ft nothing. Right now the lights 2 feet from the canopy, so I’m getting worried I’ll run out of headspace. I read that you have to run the lights closer during flower, so that might help. When do you think I should switch the lighting? So far the higher canopy is only 18in tall from the ground (including the pot it’s in).

What do you think?

Hey everyone. So these plants look like they hit a growth spurt and recovered big time from the defoliation. They are back to their bushy selves and it’s making it harder and harder to train.

Should I start pruning them again?

I also think I’m about one week away from switching to flower so the plants don’t get too tall.

What do you think? I seeded them the last week of February.

What do you think this could be? Light burn?

I still haven’t used any nutes besides calmag given that they were put in new soil 3 weeks ago. I’ll prob start the nutes next week.

I am running the HLG 260xl at 24in at 100%.

Any advice for my issue above?

Meh; nothing to see here. Your plant is fine. Water only until flower or you start to see a def.

Trust me when I say it does NOT make you unique haha. We all were. Once you get a couple of grows behind you, then you can relax and enjoy the ‘zen’ of the whole thing. Smoking a big fatty while doing that helps too haha.

I concur with what @Myfriendis410 said on both fronts :+1: :tumbler_glass: :v:

I can’t wait until that first harvest. This process is really so much fun and my new favorite hobby. But I can see how this can be more relaxing after a couple run throughs.

And for the smoking part, that is always a prerequisite, as long as I’m still not working. Can’t wait for 5pm.

Thanks again for the help. You guys are making this so much easier.

This form has been great for getting a ton of advice on growing weed, but I didn’t think it would help prevent my house from being burned down.

So a few weeks ago I had posted my temp and humidity readings and today I got a response saying that it looked like it was bouncing up and down, asking what was going on. I installed a dehumidifier in each tent but they didn’t seem to fix the issue.

Driving home today from work, I remembered that my washer and dryer are also in the garage, and that it was getting very humid in there when drying clothes.

Once I got home and checked, the dryer exhaust duct was disconnected from the dryer and the vent outside! There was a ton of lint behind and under the dryer that easily could have caused a fire! One little spark is all it would have taken.

I want to give a huge thank you to @Silverback who helped me realize what was wrong!

Now I gotta throw out the temp & humidity data and start fresh. My guess is that humidity will be under control but the temp will bounce around given there is no insulation in my garage.

Bedsides that, plants look good. Finally potted the baby’s and will train them once they root more. Planning to switch to a 12/12 schedule this time next week so they don’t grow to tall.

Cheers!

Hey sweet! Glad to help! Be sure and tag me with the new trends in a couple days😁

Happy Sunday everyone!

Not much to update on except I did some pruning. I have been retraining the plants the day after I water and that has keep them short and fat. I also potted the babies that I had in hopes they will flower once I switch them over. They should be mature enough but are small because they were I. Such small pots.

This week has been humid as all hell but has lightened up in the past day or two. Humidity will be lower this week but it will be hotter so that doesn’t help much. Still trying to think of what to do to make the conditions more stable, but I think that would take installing a large ac and dehumidifier unit in my garage.

Also I ordered some seeds that should be arriving soon from ILGM. I got Gorilla Glue, Bergmans Golf Leaf, and some sour diesel. Very excited to get some clean genetics in the mix given that I found the seeds I used in bags of weed.

Time to start the countdown to flower

Found these little white guys jumping around in the water runoff.

What are they and how can I treat?

Thankfully I’ve not had any bug problems. So I don’t have any first hand experience. If they are moving around, you should start checking plants for damage, especially on back of leaves. Not having first hand experience I don’t want to give you any bad advice.

Can you get a close up so, I can see them better?

There are a lot of them. I have been checking on the leaves and don’t see anything at all. I can only see them in the water runoff. I think they are called springtails based on what I have been reading.
