A lot of us would say: First day since flip.
We start counting flowering times when the stretching is done and the “hedgehogs” have formed. That way, we are closer to the breeders flowering times. 
But, there’s no harm counting it your way. Just know that your “flowering” times will be longer than the breeders… 
So I was actually just thinking about this and the way I figured it is, the first day of “ flip” “ flower” “ stretch” what have you , does it start when you first shorten their day? Or after they’ve had a full night and day of the new light regimen? And do i start counting flower days now or when I see pistols? When you actually get down too ok doing it this counting business is more complicated than I thought, do we go by our inputs or by the plants responses to said inputs?
Most will start to count flower days after the stretch is done and buds are all formed like kap says this will put u more to the 9 to 10 weeks. If u start flower now in 8 to 10 weeks ull hear alot of 3 to 4 more weeks left still. Which would put u at 10 to 12 weeks atleast breeders days are alot shorter than ours because we usually start count at the day of flip whoch makes flower time alot longer. If unstart flower days when u see all buds formed and the stretch stopped then ull be more on their timeline of days
If you search hedgehogs, you’ll see a lot of images around when flower time starts. Its really just a general term for when the plant has stopped transitioning from vegetative state to a mature state where it has developed female flowers that can begin to receive pollen.

, they were like so 2 months right? I was like, “ yep , give or take a couple weeks “ so all the estimates of 8-10 weeks don’t include the 14 days of hormonal changes and stretching? lol oh well, that’s just 14 more days I’ll have to enjoy my 5 mistresses 
I shall name this limbo period that noone can agree upon the transitionary pre hedgehog almost there but not really period!
Thats a mouthful! You’ll see folk referring to it as transition or as Kap mentioned “flip” or “switch”.

Yeah , you can try cracking them or you can “scuff” them with sand paper which is good if you’re in any doubt about using pliers on them .
