Hello all, I’ve been growing about four years hydroponic. In these four years, I’ve learned a lot of what not to do or the mistakes that I have made, which I hope makes me a better, Grower. One of my problems was drying, but I’ve taken care of that by getting the drying tent. I’m working on the curing phase. I grow in one room and then dry and cure in another. I just recently purchased an air conditioner so I could get my drying temperatures down to where they should be(65-75)and (45%_55%). These are the numbers that came with my dry tent. My son that got me into into this, thinks The temp should be below 70°F I forgot to mention my method is an Ebb system. Thanks for all your future help
Welcome to the forum !
My drying routine
Days 1 - 5 Temp 65 to 70°F RH 60%
Days 5 to whenever temp 65°F RH 50 to 55%
After i test with a moisture meter at 12 to 14% ill place in a paper sack for 24 hours to sweat the moisture from the center of the bud. Then ill use grove bags to start the cure for 45 so i dont have to burp. Ill store in a cool dark spot. Then after 45 days ill transfer to amber mason jars for the remainder of the cure with Broveda packs to help sustain humidity.
Welcome aboard @Grillman. Temps below 68 degrees will help preserve terpenes. Colder than about 60 degrees and the air can’t hold enough moisture to prevent buds drying too fast. RH between 50% and 60% is ideal. Most of the time lower in that temp range means you need slightly higher humidity and vice versa. I dry till most of the branches make a snap sound when folded but do not break in half. That usually takes 10-14 days. If they don’t snap they aren’t ready. If they break completely in two then they are over dry. You can package them with some moist fresher buds or throw a fresh leaf or two in the jar to help re-hydrate them. Beyond that it largely comes down to preference and what works best for your situation and environment. I personally don’t like plastic bags, but have my method down well enough that I don’t really burp my jars. I just give them a quick sniff every once in a while and that introduces plenty of fresh air into my containers. There is definitely a learning curve involved in my method though.
