I have used Hydroguard in rdwc 5 years with no issues. I just figured out of you use tap water with Hydroguard without removing chlorine it will slime your system, and cover your roots. I got lucky on this one it was ready to be chopped anyways.
This could have happened because I was dosing it per gallon in the system after chlorine was gone. I am guessing the chlorine killed the beneficials leaving the slime.
I am just throwing it out there I am sure I am not the only one who uses tap water.
interesting observation… I use RO water so no experience with tap and slime…I thought most let their tap sit out overnight to let the chlorine evaporate…
I always did that but I got behind on water and took a short cut. It could have been bad.
I must be lucky, I use tap with no gas off and Southern Ag and haven’t experienced the slime
Same, I was going to say that but our “city” water is so low in chlorine by the time it gets to us that I don’t even consider it anymore
I have to run 55 gallons of tap water at a time. So I can’t really let it set. I’ve never tested my water so I don’t know what is in it. However I haven’t used hydro guard either and haven’t had any problems. I need to install a RO system I guess
I am not sure now what caused the slime. But that plant was the best tasting and smoothest and end weight was heavier than expected. Maybe too much build up of hydroguard.
