How important is absolute dark during lights out

New to autoflowers, but wondering if absolute dark during lights out is all that necessary with autos. Or can you just let the light go out for a while (18/6), and not worry about sealing out all light? Mines in flower, and I’ve not been sealing out light, but if it benefits it I can.

I’ve seen some autos herm but I don’t know if it’s from light  they don’t depend on lighting to start flower and can be grown on a 24/7 light schedule. This makes me wonder if light leaks are actually a problem with them, I run my autos on a 6/2 schedule I know that tent has leaks and I don’t go out of my way to guarantee 100% dark and haven’t had a problem YET but I’m only on my third run of autos so my experience is limited

It might depend on the each strain/genetics, I’ll say that first as a caution.

I’ve grown autos and had lots of light leaks/interruptions and no problems with herms.

Unless someone convinces me otherwise, I guess I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing. I just let the light go out, and I don’t shut this closet door.

For a while I was too crowded and unfolded one side of my tent leaving the front completely open.
Went from 32x32 to 32x48 with no front.

center pole is actually the corner.
I have no problem with my autos.

Pretty much the main reason why I switched to autos was to stop worrying about light leaks. I’m sure it wouldn’t do them any good to blast them with bright light during their dark period, but small light leaks certainly won’t do them any harm, or at least it hasn’t in my experience.

I start mine at 12-12 and finish every time letting them get some rest is the way to go imo

On off whenever you want turn the on 24 hrs a day if ya want, or 6 hours on 6 hours off 2 hours on 2 hours off…
Autos do not care one bit…

With autos not at we did a test and grew a plant in a open room and it did just fine on a 20/4 light schedule

I do my autos in a spare bathroom 4.5x4.5 no door on it as I took it off it took up a 1x2 foot area I could use. I veg and do autos in there without issue I don’t believe but maybe that’s the reason I end up with airy type buds @Nicky ya think maybe???

All plants benefit from a rest, the darker the better test usually.
Autos don’t need it and it doesn’t have to be perfect but if it’s doable to deal your tent up. Correctly I would advise it.

The better your environment the better your results, your playing God and its a challenge to see how good of a job you can do in order to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Autos will survive and still do well however
