As long as you plan on using standard home wall receptacle you will want 120v.

I hear you on buying American. The best chips are made in Asia(Samsung) and Germany(OSRAM). Having an American company to provide warranty and product support is worth the extra price. Look for the companies that are bringing innovative (UVA Far Red) and the latest designs (Bar LED).
