so i accidentally fed this dirty little secret with full nutes while it was in the good soil about maybe 4 days or so ago and it got burnt up real bad, i washed it out with regular water to clear out the extra nutes i added, trimmed off the bad leaves. and today transplanted it into coco.
its lookin rough but ill give it a week or two to bounce back an get better.
also the rb chip is looking a little better each day as it adjusts to its new medium, looks like its about to start takin off soon.
i will be starting a coco grow journal separate from the soil grows so i can have a bit of a variety of medium journals.
im already looking into a hydro set up, may be trying that next after a couple coco grows.

i am workin on more space for a couple more tents,
i will be getting a 3x3 to add to the grows i do.
I’m slowly transitioning to coco than probably hydro after i get a few coco grows under my belt.

Looking good buddy any specific reasons you are switching to coco or hydroponics in general?

definitely for the quality increase.
i mean the roots from the babies in the solo cups already surpasses the roots in the bigger containers.
Honestly i need some pictures when i do the transplant, my mind was blown at the difference in roots alone when i checked em.
i cant wait to see how much faster an better the plants themselves grow in coco compared to soil.
i wanna grow the best quality with what i got to work with.
the soil grew amazing buds, best buds ive smoked in years, but at the same time there is better stuff out there. for my first grow i didnt do bad but i could have done so much better. and i always push myself to do the best quality job possible at everything i do.
i got soil down for the most part. and im hoping coco grows better quality as far as frost and taste goes as well.
the taste of the stuff i grew got decent after curing for months , but still has a bit of harshness that i just cant pinpoint and i believe its from using soil but i will find out after i try the different mediums and find out for sure

Chop chop chop, nice!
I will say Hershy if you are switching to coco for a better end result. You are gonna be let down. Well maybe not. The placebo effect might work. The only significant difference I’ve noticed is growth rates. Coco is easier and quicker for correcting issues too. There are pros and cons to everything. But watering daily sometimes multiple times. I do encourage you to try them all as you will see what you like best.
Once you are dialed in it’s all about genetics… plants are bound to this. Can only push em so far before they push back and give you seeds. I’ve tried to exploit plants in every way I could. It’s all in the genetics.

thank you for the advice.
i think the biggest thoughts i had on switching was being able to apply silica, the stems are already getting thick as babies.
i think with the thicker stems i should be able to get a much higher quantity from the thicker stems being able to support thicker buds as well.
@Low did the silica make a difference as far as the bulkiness and density of the final buds because of the much thicker stems?

Ive noticed some difference. Not enough to stop me from training, like some have said. I’ve read that trichomes are silica based but haven’t researched that too much. But honestly when you add silica to coco it kinda of just replicates what soil does naturally. Soil is silica based.
I went quite a while without committing to silica, but I follow @JJ520 routine from time to time so I started running it in the res to see first hand. This round I’m using it front to back. I’ve done plenty of grows without it at all in coco. So we will see.

That one nug you’re holding in your hand looks like a perfect Christmas tree. All you need now are some tiny little lights and ornaments!

i definitely kind of like the idea of watering more often as well, being able to be more interactive with my plants as opposed to just sitting an staring at them for days before i get to water em
thanks for the idea as well @NedBogan
it will be my mini Christmas tree this year haha
unless i get a bulkier looking Christmas tree from the next plant
i will indeed buy some mini ornaments for the budmas tree this year.

Buds look great. Yeah you def get more control with coco- just demands more hands on stuff, unless you decide to go to auto feed.
