Oh yes it has been very dry, finaly getting humiIty back been in the upper 20’s and 32 tomorrow, but the bottom drops out again, tent has been a MFer this yr to get even close to 60% and plants are telling me about it.
I already harvested
I know I should have waited to let my buds get bigger but I have a trip planned next month and I wouldn’t have anyone to watch my plants while I’m gone. I honestly wouldn’t trust anyone. But the trichimones were full of milky and amber before I harvested so I think I’m safe.
Thank you
I’m definitely trying my best hopefully by next year I’ll be a pro ![]()
Man it’s been so hard and to top it off I put the tent in my bedroom so I can’t sleep in there because it’s too cold. I saw a video where it says heat dissolves your trichimones so I try to keep the room as cool as possible even though the lowest It have been at is 69F.
I have a humidifier with a fan on the floor of the tent. I also have the dehumidifier in the tent as well but I have been scared to use it thinking it will take my terps away.
All depends what stage they are in 70 f and 50 ish % humdity is about what I shoot for the last 3-4 weeks, and oh does the 69 temp feel good when it is 5-10 below zero outside ![]()
They are in the drying stage after harvest. 70 degrees and 50% will dry them out too fast.
Ah ok yes sorry about that.
I have often wondered why this mainly seems to apply on the easy coast. Or east. I am in Cali and my room is at 30 - 40% humidity. Temps go between cold nights and mid 70 days. My stuff still takes at least 6 - 7 days to dry. I like to go into the bags at about 58%. By the second week I am at about 60%. I like to jar as close to 58% as I can. I never loose any smell or taste. I dry in a small grow tent with a hanging basket. A 4" fan pulling air into the room.
Congrats on the harvest @LowkeyLee
This drying process is kicking my butt. My last batch that I grew lost all its taste so now it taste horrible. I have only had one plant do that to me. I got every thing back after about a month in a grove bag. It makes me wonder if you have a fan pointing at the stuff you are drying. They really only seem to need just a touch of air flow. I hope these do better for you
Size of the plant matters too. If you grow large plants they will take a few more days. Whether you hang the entire plant or individual branches matters as well. You can get away with lower humidity with larger plants/colas.
My first grow I didn’t know anything I put my plants in a closet and just left them there for 7 days them put them in a jar without a hydrometer or anything. By the time I got a hydrometer the buds were only at 22%. My bud was very bad actually I still have it just sitting in a jar hoping that it will gain some flavor.
Yes I realized that the smaller plants that I have are drying way faster than the plants with the bigger buds
Some thing I find a lot haven’t found out. A cheap black light will help you gauge where the plants are for drying. When they are wet. They will show purple. As they dry they change to green. I use this little guy my self if I am feeling unsure about the feel.
Thank you I’m ordering it now ![]()
One of my jars that I’m curing is at 54% r.h do y’all think I can pass with this or do I need to add more moisture
I would be happy there. I know they say 62% but that seems right on the edge of wet for me. If you are still at 54 in a day or so. Just toss a few leaves in till you get up a touch more if you have any other plants. For my self though. I wouldn’t be concerned with that.. It is easier to add humidity than remove it.
If you know what dry bud feels like, use your hand. Those little disposable hygrometers are useless. Ive seen 6 of them go from reading the same to being +/- 10% RH over a few hours sitting in the same spot.
Woke up and 6 of my jars is at 99% humidity I put in it a box and put it back in my grow tent with a dehumidifier going but I don’t know if that would work I’m just assuming at this point helppppp
If they were >90% in the jar they were probably a little too wet. Dont panic, its probably fine. You dont need the dehumidifier if the humidity isnt too high in your tent.
You can set them out on a tray in your tent, or put them in a paper bag and check on them periodically, then jar them up when they seem close to dry enough. When they go back in the jar you will likely have to “burp” the jars to lower humidity until it stabilizes. I do this by opening the jar and shaking the buds out into my hand to mix them up and ensure there are no spots in the jar that can have pockets of high humidity. Then you can close it back up and check on them again. (in a few hours at first, then once a day as they dry out). Youll know when they start to get into a good dry range when the buds stop sticking to each other like velcro.
Yep, what he said. I normally just toss them back in the tent I have for drying. I have a hanging basket in there. No foul here. When mine are close, But still need a touch more. I just dump every thing in a plastic tote and leave them out to dry. As long as the room is mostly dark. Not so dark you can’t see. They will still dry nice. It takes a few times drying to figure out what woks best where you are at. I always have low humidity during the day. So it is an easy fox for me. We get over cast type fog at night being close to the ocean. So the humidity normally goes up at night.
