so just to make sure, since im using distilled water i dont have to ph to check my run off ? . i just been getting so many different answers
When you water with just distilled water you do Not need to adjust water before you water. But you will want to use your Ph pen to test your run off water, water that comes out the bottom. This will let you know what going on in your soil, also use your tds meter to check your ppm. If under 1000, then you will need to feed nutes probably
i usually water my 3 gallon plastic pots with a half gallon amount of water? should i use a full gallon to check the ph and ppm?
So for me I have 3 gallons fabric pots, and they will get at least 1 gallons some times 1/4 more so I can get enough water out the bottom to test. But I normally water every 3-4 days. Plain water one day they I feed nutes the next time. And just switch back and fourth. I go by weight, I left the pot and when itâs feels light water, if not wait another day.
my ph came out to 5.6-5.7 for one plant so far? should i feed now or wait until next watering?
my ph of my run off with plain water came out to 5.7
If youâre in soil it wonât matter if you feed nutrients, itâll be difficult for the roots to uptake them at that PH. Soil sweet spot is 6.5 with a good range of 6.2-6.8 ![]()
As equally important is the PPMS, do you know what those numbers are. This will determine if nutrients are needed or not ![]()
so basically next feeding i should up the nutrient intake ? and no i dont have a tds pen at the moment.
actually my tds pen is coming today on the way as we speak from amazon âŚ
Youâll need run off PPM numbers or a slurry test. A slurry test requires distilled water and taking a soil sample from as close to the root mass as possible. You take equal parts of the distilled and soil and give it a good mix, let it rest for 24 hours and statin it through a coffee filter and test that sample the same as run off for PH and PPMs ![]()
