Its funny because I have a 3x3 vivosun and it doesnt fit perfectly at all. I need to get a new tent anyway so I’m going to be looking at the gorilla ones. Thanks Hellraiser
When you plant your baby tails, do you plant them in coco precharged w full strength jacks too?
My vivosun works great in my 4x4 and in my 3x3 it sags a lot, label says use for 3x3 or 4x4
Yes the coco is already pre-charged with full strength Jacks when I plant the seeds.
Ok I was on too late for you guys last night when I put her in there and was scared it would burn her so I flushed a little out and put a sprinkle of recharge hoping it would help her lol I think the ppm were down to 450 when I dropped her in. Hopefully I’m good
thanks for the reply, Hell!
@Hellraiser shes just now coming thru the top of the coco. Can I go ahead and pre charge the coco in her 3 gal pot that she will finally go in? I have the nutes ready and need the bucket for my flowering plants. And I have two buckets but it takes both every 2 days for what I have going right now. If I pre charge now, will it hurt to sit for a week or so while she fills out the solo cup? If it’s a bad idea, I can figure something else out.

The pot sitting a week would not be a problem though it will dry out some in that time, no biggie, just add more when time comes to use it.
Ok I was worried about dried up salts and what not. If you say it will be ok, I trust you. Thanks!
I always have some extra expanded coco sitting around, If I use it soon (a week or 2) then it’s not a problem and I just add more Jacks to bring up the moisture level when I put it to use, if it sits around long enough to completely dry out, then I do give it a nice little flush with Jacks to wash out some of dried salts.
Day 17 above ground for the Gelatos and SK, time to set up the structure for this grow. Decided on 6 branches per plant to not over-crowd as much, so got rid of the first 2 nodes branches and leaves, let 3 nodes of branches and leaves grow and then topped, which will give me the 6 main branches per plant. Bottoms cleaned up, easy to get in there to water.
All topped and ready to grow branches
Hey hell what you know about gas lantern schedule seen some people using here?
The gas lantern schedule is great for growers who want to save on electricity.
When I tried it, I did 12 hours of light, then 5 hours of dark, then turn light on for 1 hour, then 6 more hours of darkness, repeat daily. The hour of light in the middle of the night cycle breaks up the long night and will keep plants in veg. It’s a nice schedule for clone mothers as the reduced DLI will keep growth speed down. I would not use it for my production plants for the same reason, slower growth, but can be done if saving electricity (or cutting down on heat) is the prime concern.
Your grows are simply stunning! I just love to see how you get the best out of your plants! Time and time again!!
I’m about ready to make my first batch of hash. I know you’ve covered this someplace in your journals…could you point me in the right direction.
Was just about to say the same!
Really appreciate your thorough explanations, and dumbing everything down… sure makes it easy to follow along when your new to growing.
Looking forward to watching your Cherry Ice Cream seeds progression.
Have u experimented lately on doing grows and dropping seeds in the final pot vs doing solo grow starts to me from doing a few solos and transplanting to final seems like the main root ball stays constricted to that main little area. Ones that I e planted strait to final home seem to have a root structure that goes thru the whole pot not just the center. To me the ball just don’t seem like it spreads the roots like it should or could maybe. I’ve only noticed this while grabbing a pot that had plant taken out for like a week or 2. I ran water thru the pot let it all dry out went to grab it by the stalk and the whole root ball came out was about the size of the solo cup with multiple tracer roots shooting from there. Any seed I plant in the final I cannot do this I have to use something to break the stalk free from the coco a big difference I’ve noticed with roots not doing a transplant vs doing it.
My last grow i felt the roots never made it past the first ball from the first small pot. Could be we waited too long to pot up.
I just switched from soil to coco, so I’m going to see if there’s a difference this time.
If u do more than one seed put one in the final pot from start. I m gonna to see if the root mass fills the pot like it did on my first grow ever since I did transplants the plants do t seem to grow the same. I’m testing this for myself on this next run lol. Need to get rid of some of these plants to make room for new ones. Too many clones right now
No experiments on that but since moving to fabric and mesh grow bags I no longer see a huge benefit from transplanting up mulitple times like I used to do with plastic pots, which is why I stopped doing that and only do 1 transplant lately. With the plastic pots, always got the roots circling once they hit the side of the pot and that doesn’t happen with fabric or mesh grow bags due to the air pruning once they hit the side of the grow bag.
I still like to start in solo cups for the convenience of the small amount of space they take up. Like with my current Cherry sprouts, I started them up and can keep them in my mother tent while the Blue Dream clones finish up and get a couple weeks head start over waiting for the BDs to vacate the tent so I can plant the seeds in the final pot, that helps me more than any benefit of starting in final pots, but I see no problem with starting in final pots if space is not an issue, specially when using coco and fabric or mesh grow bags where over watering is basically a non-issue.
That 2+ week head start on the next grow is the key factor in starting in Solo cups…which is just one of the many things you’ve taught me.
Yeah it saves a lot of time thru the year, enough to squeeze another grow in.
