Harvesting Males

I have 6 Auto Males almost 4 weeks in. Separated from the females, but maybe too late as one male started dumping pollen. Anyway, want to continue growing outside and harvest to make edibles. Question, when is the right time to harvest? Look for trichomes color like the females?

males are no good for gettin high! Only good for making seed with females. Kill and compost!

So, that’s not going to happen. Anyone know the correct time to harvest?

You sure it’s a male ? You said auto and I dont believe autos are male. Aren’t autos feminized?

No. Found out the hard way that there are regular autos. Thought I was buying auto fem at the time, but no. Next batch got from ILGM and they ARE auto fem. So, what little I can find is males get trichomes just like females and base harvest by that. Any ideas? Yay, nay?

Have pics of them ? Would be nice to see.

Just a question but I didn’t think that males had much if any THC at All,was I wrong?, And if not what would be the point of making edibles out of them? Could they possibly have more cbd or other medicinal properties that one would gain from by making males into edibles? I’m just trying to understand.

My understanding is the males do have THC, but in lesser amounts. Maybe need 2-3x as much material to achieve results. Back in the 70-80’s just about everything available to me had seeds and probably a lot of males too. Columbia Gold was the bomb. Everything else for sale was just weed.

No one really keeps males past the point of identifying them as males so there won’t be much experience of when best to harvest them. I once (as an experiment - I do lots of those) took the identified males at the beginning of flowering and took all the leaves and ran them thru my bubblebagdude washing machine then thru the bubblebags and got a few grams of hash from it. Then I smoked a little of the hash for giggles. It was absolutely the worst hash I ever smoked but I did get a little high from it. Males do have THC just no where near the THC females buds have.
