A few hundred miles south. It’s the east slope of the Sandias from my roof. It wasn’t but a few years ago that none of those houses were there. such is “progress” I suppose.

I should have recognized that! I lived in Albaquacky for about 4 years and used to run up to the top of Sandia every morning before work (except if was snowy) right from my house! Then after work, a friend and I used to go mountain biking there… I loved it except for the scorpions and snakes :weary_cat:

My dad and I used to go up embudito between classes for picnics a few times a week. Albuquerque is half tent city these days. It’s gotten so bad the governor dispatched the National Guard to assist APD. I moved over the mountain around 03 and never looked back. Even with the population explosion in the area it’s still a pretty nice place to live. It’s certianly better than Kansas and the weather is way nicer than Colorado in the winter as long as you can stand the wind.

whew, It’s been a while since I checked in. I got the second round of veggies started and officially have more plant’s than I know what to do with. Just the way I like it. I started acclimating everything to the outdoors the last few days. It’s quite the undertaking to take the 60ish plants out and back in every morning. Thankfully, I think I’m about ready to start leaving them out. A few of the tomatoes are a little droopy after sitting out most of the day, but the rest of them seem to be adapting well.
The weed babies are all starting to take off. A few of them got pretty stretchy while I was trying to get the light figured out. It was pretty cool to see all the different plants’ light preferences in real time. That was an experiment I hadn’t tried before. It’s about time to start training. Now I have to decide just what I’m doing this time. I’m thinking some sort of manifold, but I guess we’ll see once I figure out what is going where.

Unfortunately I’ve learned skipping acclimation just isn’t an option here. That desert sun is brutal. I still have a few weeks before I can put most of it in the ground, but I working on getting the garden area prepped out. I got water plumbed in today. Next step is getting a layout and irrigation in place.

Damn time flies. I didn’t realize it had been almost a month since my last update. Everything seems to finally be settling in after a slow start. I’m going to have to start earlier next year so I can let them get a little more mature before sticking them out in the elements. I finally got everything in the ground, mostly happy, and setting fruit. Looks like I’ve even broken the curse of males. Of the 3 reg seeds planted I got 2 girls and 1 that looks like it, but no pistils yet.
