Girl Scout Cookie: 1st Grow

likewise. she is enjoying being creative.

as for too many clones…yeah you dont want to get overwhelmed. can you sell some to friends/family?
it would beat just dumping in trash. or hell…even give away to someone that can nurture them, still beats death by garbage can.

I decided to try my hand at a SCROG using the five clones under the LED light. Built a screen frame using 3/4" PVC pipe and chicken wire that seems to work well.
I have to say that after a few days under the LED, these five look better than the ones under the 400W HP.
I topped all five yesterday and will top them once more before the branches reach the screen.

All fifteen of the new cuttings are doing well after 8 days in the dome, no roots yet but don’t really expect to see any for several more days.

The five ladies in Flower are also doing great, maybe too good. I wish that I had planned a larger flower room. I won’t let any future plants get as big as these.
I took them out one at a time for watering and a good look. PH runoff was good, all between 6.4 and 6.7. No sign of deficiencies or pests.

My entire grow operation has actually gotten too big overall. I hadn’t intended to have this many plants (36 all together counting the fifteen cuttings that are doing great). I currently only have five in Flower but sixteen of my clones will be ready in a few weeks with the fifteen cuttings a few weeks behind them.
I know I can keep them in Veg indefinitely but, other than Mother plant, don’t want them growing to big before Flowering.
I have put out calls to friends but nobody is set up for an indoor grow and the weather is still to cold for outdoors. I’ll manage though.

i have to say.
for 1st grow, im jealous of the ease at which you seem to find success. i know nothing has probably been easy. but you are doing far better than most at this stage of beginner-ness.

i have room for more, happen to live near Seattle?

I lived in Seattle way back in the '70s and wish that I did today…loved that part of the country.

Thanks for that compliment but maybe it is just blind luck that my grow is going so well.
I have to give most of the credit to this website and my mentor Donaldj who guided me in the right direction. His emphasis on good soil and proper PH was the key and everything else came from the guides on this site and people like you who are so free with advice.
My advice to other Newbies would be to study, study, study before buying anything for a grow. All of the information needed is in these pages.
The next six to seven weeks will tell though. Can’t wait to harvest and take that first taste of MY weed.

These are the clones I got off of my five mother plants. The ones in the back have been in soil for a couple of weeks. The smaller ones went into soil this morning.

This is my SCROG experiment from clones under LED. They are also two weeks in soil.

All together I have thirty one clones. Every single cutting I took from the mothers rooted and are doing well in soil.

That’s real cool , but in my opinion for the scrog plants , if you was to add another led or 2 CFL grow lights , say 125 watts or 250 watts or each side of the led that would be a real good scrog . To me that one led panel won’t be enough for all the plants , maybe 2 , 3 at the most once they stretch into late flower . But if you increase your light , it would really make a very big difference in your final yield per plant . The more intense light , the bigger the yield , with the right nutrients you would have a very nice scrog . But as of now everything looks fabulous , keep up the good work and happy growing .

I was thinking about doing that Yoshi but wasn’t sure if it was necessary. They are looking so good right now.
I topped them once and the lower branches really took off so I won’t top again.
They are two weeks in soil but I think I’ll wait another week before going 12/12 on the lights.
The mother plants jumped up as soon as I switched the lights on them and I’m hoping for the same here.
Thanks for the tip.

Looking good so far Richard!

Doing research for my first grow and I wish you the best of luck in the next couple of months.

Update?

I’m 29 days into Flower on my five oldest plants, the ones I started from seed and took all of my clones from. I have numerous branches on all plants and buds galore everywhere I look.
Don’t know if I have a green thumb or just the luckiest beginner ever. I couldn’t be more pleased with the result so far.
I still have another four weeks of Flower to get through and I’m sure it’s going to be the longest four weeks ever.
The only mistake I made so far was allowing my plants to get too big in 5 gallon buckets. All of my clones are in 1 & 3 gallon and I’ll keep them much smaller. Bigger plants mean crowding, numerous light adjustments and more water more often. I have plants in three stages of growth and all have different requirements.
I took on more than I was ready for…but I’m managing.

The ones on the floor are my Mother plants, now 32 days in Flower. On the table are the first of my Clones, kept in 1 & 3 gallon pots, also in Flower.
None of my plants have failed, they’re all female GSC. I still have another 17 clones in Veg.
I wish I lived in a state where growing was legal.

Just an update for all of you helpful growers.
I’ve been busy harvesting 27 girls during the past couple of months. Averaging about two ounces per plant of some excellent weed.
Friends want to know who I’m getting it from.
I like the Girl Scout Cookie. It’s super mellow and helps a lot with my back and knee pain.
Thanks everybody for the advice and help.
Now I’m a grower.

I’ve been trying to avoid transplanting, going from the rooting cup straight into it’s final container. I know how, just thought I was saving on labor.
So when is the right time…when they get rootbound?

Transplanting is actually a vital step to get big roots and bigger fruits , but I tried cutting corners and failed all 3 times .

I’ve been reading through these comment and I have to ask. My stems are changing colors too like blood purple color what and why is this happening and if it is a deficiency, what should I do to correct it.

Yes she is GSC
3G pot
18/6 cycle
100w Led
Any pointers or suggestions and even corrections?

@RKIP I have no idea what’s going on but I saw this article recently and thought of it when I saw your post hope this helps
-good luck

I’ve been growing GSC since last winter in my basement. Same thing happened to me and I went into panic mode when it first happened.
I got all kinds of suggestion, mostly a manganese deficiency. Nothing I did would resolve the purpling so I decided to ignore it, I made sure everything else was right, (temp, PH, lights, ventilation etc) and my plants turned out great. I got about 2oz from each plant and the smoking was superb.
Since then I have harvested five times and had the purpling on my leaf stems every time. Maybe it’s normal for GSC but it hasn’t seemed to hurt the product.
Good luck with your girls.

I figured that when I looked up some images on Google

It could be one of 3 things, nitrogen deficiancy, I think sulfur deficiency but I could be wrong, or could be genetics of the strain
