The schedule is just general guidelines. When I first started growing, like many I started with FF nutrients. I tried to follow the schedule and at times found that if I followed the exact guidelines sometimes it would cause nutrient burn. So I would go with with water only on next watering and take ppm readings to see where my nutrient level was in soil. If levels coming out were below 1000 ppm then I would go with recommended dosage on next watering and repeat the process. You can mix the two different nutes in one container of water. One of the difficult things is, at least for me, is that with different nutrient lines ,there is no one size fits all. Many factors come into play and can cause you to never be confident that you now are on the right track. As far as Sledgehammer goes, the main reason I would recommend you to use it,is the salts in nutrients can build up in soil and cause ph imbalance that can lead to nutrient lockout. So the sledgehammer will essentially loosen the built up salts and allow them to be flushed out. I’m going to link a journal that is excellent for beginners. More than likely any questions you have has been asked and answered multiple times on this journal. @Hellraiser has 30 plus years experience of indoor growing. He even specifically started journal to help beginners learn from his experience. Please don’t think that I mind helping, because I don’t mind at all. I just thought that you would be able to learn more by reading and following his journal. One other thing I wanted to say was I recently switched to nutrient line called Jack’s 321 . It’s a extremely easy to use system of nutrients that I was originally attracted to because it was said to be “stupid simple” LOL . I can tell you it is a very simple way to grow cannabis. I can’t remember if I tagged you on current journal, but if I didn’t let me know and I will tag you and you can take a look and see if Jack’s would be something you would want to try on your next grow.
