Those 2 looks happy at least! ![]()
Jeffy pucks (peat) is in the lead, ROCKWOOL are about the same. I was skeptical about the Jiffy cube because in the past, they always stunted the plants. I have read that the wrap around the Jeffy cubes restricts roots so I cut it off the cube. One flaw in experiment is Jeffy is a gorilla glue and others are Girl Scouts cookies and Bruce Banner.
Probably a dud. Can’t blame the medium because everything that fuels initial seedling growth is entirely self-contained within the seed itself.
Realize that, my last 3 grows were started directly in forever pots with cococoir and perlite. For some reason this springs planting just didn’t want to start well so I thought let’s play around with germinating.
I think conditions in growing room was to cool and dry even though tents had humidifiers and heaters. Not really sure way.
Both of these 5-week-old autos went into peat pucks after I popped them in paper towels. Stalks are as thick as my middle finger. No stunted growth here.
My peat plant is outperforming in my experiment which make me think repotting or light conditions stunted it. I learned something from my experiment. Somebody posted this experiment was pointless but I learned.![]()
Right on brotha. And I’m sure you had fun doing it. Kudos ![]()
No experiment is truly pointless… ![]()
You learned something and shared it with the others. Somebody else might have gotten some new knowledge, you never know.
Never stop experimenting and you’ll always have fun, or at least an interesting time! ![]()
Even a “pointless experiment” yields a teachable opportunity. It’s a Zen-like, bong half full, one hand clapping kinda thing.
Peat pucks blew everything else away,ROCKWOOL was disappointing , sprouted great but not growing well .
Results from ex. Stunted plants, back to seed directly into forever pots.
Rockwool cubes don’t provide any nutrients.
All test plants stunted, pulled all and sticking to seed directly into forever pots.
Well, now you know your routine. They weren’t salvageable?
I seen that
I’m late but I’m catching up
So after 14 days, what led you to conclude all were stunted? I ask because above-ground seedling growth is often painfully slow while its focus is on root system growth. These seedlings, for example, are over two weeks old. Do you think they’re stunted?
Good point ![]()
Flowering at 4” high, pulled them and started new, need autopot space for new seeds so they had to go.
I take that back everything stunted , much longer then two weeks now. Autopots space is to limited to mess with them. Pistols at 4” high not worth the pot space.
The seedling phase & time to reach 4" is typically about four weeks. Not unusual for autos to show sex then, either, followed by rapid growth.
