First time, how am I looking?

First time growing. Granddaddy purple photoperiod seeds. Vivosun tent with 150w light. Fox farm soil and nutrients. Planted on June 12. On an 18/6 light schedule right now. I first fed big bloom and grow big on 6/26 at 25% dose and have been watering about every 2-3 days with my second feeding on Saturday.

Welcome to the community! Plants are looking good, just keep an eye on the Fox Farms soil, many have had low ph issues in it. Nice job so far.:oncoming_fist:

Do you have a common tail tell sign to look for when gauging if it’s a ph issue or not?

Thanks for the welcome! What will be signs of pH imbalance? Are my leaves too dark and/or droopy?

I’ve been using perplexity AI to help me with all of this and it’s been very helpful but I have no way of knowing how accurate it is because I’ve never grown before.

Most ph issues show up as yellow leaves, edges of leaves, or spots on leaves. By the time it shows up, you are 2-3 weeks in deficiency. Regular checks of runoff will tell you something is drifting off before it gets bad. Yours look well fed, just be sure and let them dry back before you water again, that should take the last bit of droop out of them as long as your environment is on point.:+1::oncoming_fist:

Hey , welcome . Be wary of AI advice , it hallucinates and will tell you things it thinks you want to hear . It doesn’t have to be true lol . Growdoc’s advice is better than any AI . Peace .

You mentioned that you watered so give it a chance to recover before getting too concerned about it.

Usually, the plant will produce pre-flower pistils when it is sexually mature. You can flip to flower any time after that.

What do those look like? I’m a total newbie and have no clue what I’m doing so I’m learning as I go

Pistils start as white hairs that come out of flowers. Those pistils will turn red/brown late in flower. When your plant is in full flower there will be many pistils coming out of flowers (groups of calyx) all over the plant.

When the plant first becomes sexually mature individual calyx will form at nodes and those little calyx will have a white hair growing out of the end.

@budbrother or @kaptain3d or someone may have a photo that they could post to show you.

Here you go my Magical friend. For male and female sexual maturity.

Thanks for helping out.

@anon96487194 take a look at the photos that @kaptain3d posted. They show what to look for in determining sex and sexual maturity in your plants.

You guys are awesome. I really appreciate you taking the time to help out a total stranger on the internet.

We are all friends here! Friends help friends.

@anon96487194 Clarification:
This applies to female plants. I assumed that you are growing feminized seeds. Male plants don’t produce pistils.

Welcome aboard.

Yes, feminized photoperiod granddaddy purple

Welcome!

Welcome aboard!

Your top pic is actually new nodes sprouting branches, your second pic is what you look at, two whit hairs will grow out of them and you know they are old enough to flower or breed.:oncoming_fist: Kap may be busy, he’ll be along shortly.
