I think i may have overwatered my little lady!
She’s 25 days old and was looking really good until i made a few big mistakes, she got her first dose of SEEDLING FERTILIZER with 1 liter of water. Was looking a little dry so i watered her 3 days later. She was then given her first dose of GROWTIME FERTILIZER with 1 liter of water.
I skipped her second dose of Seedling because she was already starting her veg state.
Where did i go wrong and can she be saved?
Symptoms: Leaves curling downwards, yellowing spots that are starting to turn brown.
For reference: White Widow Autoflower, the kit available thru ILGM. Soil: Mother Earth Groundswell
Definitely savable. Make sure to let her dry out between watering. Feeding two different ferts that soon may have been too much. If you can check runoff next watering, we can determine ppms and adjust accordingly. You have a slight magnesium deficiency where the leaves are yellowing between the veins.
1.) Next time you water don’t feed her nutrients. Just tap water PH to 6.5
2.) You should water the plant until you get 20% of water running out of the bottom (run off water) and catch it in a pan or tray.
3.) Measure the ppms and pH of that runoff water.
The reason I suggest this is because
Mother Earth Groundswel is a pre-charged soil that gives you 25 to 30 days of nutrients already in your soil to feed your plant. (It’s not as much as Happy frog but it’s still precharged)
It’s possible you’re overfeeding by adding the nutrients that you have been.
Just let her dry out she will be fine. I once broke a plant at the main stem . Didnt even know it until harvest. It mended itself and kept on pushing. These plants are very resilient.
Prior to posting online id set the humidity/temp in my tent to suck as much moisture out of the soil as possible.
Today she was looking worse than yesterday (more spots, more droopiness, etc) soil tester said she was dry so i went ahead and watered her down.
Tap water. No nutrients. Ph at 6.5
Ultimately it took a little less than a gallon to achieve 20% runoff. Which seemed SO counterproductive seeing as how just yesterday i was worried she had too MUCH water.
I went ahead and just pruined 2 branches that were looking worse than the rest.
She doesnt look happy at all and im wondering if i shouldnt just cut my losses and try again.
Here are her readings
I dont believe my brother in law anymore, he said if i can grow tomatoes i can do this. He was lying
We are going to place an order for calmag after someone suggested she may have a magnesium deficiency.
Amazon delivered a new ph meter today, my reading for runoff is 6.54, a big difference from what the yellow one had said.
We’re using 3 gallon fabric pots. Bought just for this endeavor.
Counting today, shes been watered a total of 4 times (i did ALOT of misting in her early early stages). Her first watering was done with ILGM Seedling Fertilizer, a liter with no run off, second was tap water only (ph 6.0) a liter no run off, her third was with ILGM Growtime Fertilizer, again no run off, her flurth being today with just the tap water to 20% runoff - she took almost a gallon to get that amount of runoff.
Our tapwater, we have hard hard water out here 0.27 ppm.
Secondly, get into a habit when reading your PPM with your PPM meter when posting the numbers here be sure you use X10 math
Example
you said your tap water PPM is .27 it’s actually 270 ppm (.27 X10)
By doing the math before you post the number it will help the person helping you not to be mistaken and what the true PPM number is there’s a huge difference in 27 PPM and 270 PPM
For the most part, everybody here smokes and we get easily confused
Your problems are basically from water and feeding inappropriately. It’s not disastrous or the end of the world and your plants not going to die we can get you back to perfect in no time.
First off your runoff numbers are high on the ppms. It should be between 900 - 1000 ppm so basically we need to get your current runoff which is 1700 ppms down to the normal 900-1000
I grow in 3 gallon pots as well. From here out you’re going to start feeding and watering your plant by saturating it to run off every single time.
Typically, 1 gallon of water slowly poured through your plant during watering will give you sufficient 20 to 30% runoff.
So when you start mixing nutrients or just giving H2O water only feeds you’re going to do it with one single gallon.
Okay, I know you just watered your plants this morning but we’re still in the room of opportunity to fix this today rather than wait until next time you water as more damage can be done by waiting then fixing it now.
With that said I want you to understand that although we’re fixing your plant today it can still get worse before it gets better as there’s already damaged done.
But trust me when I tell you. She will make a 100% full recovery. It’s an auto flower so we want to fix it sooner than later.
What you’re going to need to do is get yourself 3 gallons of tap water.
You can pour them all in a 5 gal bucket and then pH to 6.5
If you don’t have the bucket. Then fill up 3 separate gallons pH each gallon to 6.5.
A.) Grab your plant and slowly water the plant with the very first gallon (catching all the runoff)
B) dump the runoff from the first gallon (don’t worry about checking the PPM) grab your Second gallon and slowly run it through your plan catching all the runoff.
C) come back here and post the runoff numbers both PPM and pH of that second gallon of water you just caught let me know what it is and we can proceed from there
All you have to do is feed only water for next week or 2. She has a difficenty becausr of nutrient lockout due to over fertilizer and shock to her! If it were me id put half a dose of superthrive in the water and feed regularly with just that for a few weeks or only water and let dry between waterings. Make the first only water real abundent and make sure your runout is clear! You will be fine in no time. Sorry about spelling errors
If this was a photo that’s exactly what I would do.
The fact that he says it’s progressively getting worse daily it makes more sense to run that out now rather than wait till later. Auto flowers can be very temperamental especially when overfeeding
