First Grow, thoughts?

The stretch and leaf growth is real  Can’t wait for the first defoliation post stretch. Ordered another trellis so I have 3. I’m still dealing with high rH as my dehumidifier fills up so quick. Ordered a drain hose so I can elevate it and let it drain into a 5gal jug. I wonder if I can do anything with that water it pulls out of the air? I should test the TDS/PPM and if it’s not bad use it to feed from.

The TDS of the dehumidifier water will be zero and a PH of around 7.0. I use this a lot just make sure your nutrients have the secondary elements like calcium and magnesium. I alternate tap every other feeding even though my Nutrients have the cal and Mag included :love_you_gesture:

I really should have started the trellis earlier. Im nervous to be tucking large branches but did a little over half of the girl today. Ill tuck the rest of the tops tomorrow when lights come on. My other trellis was delayed several days and then never showed up. The replacement will be here tomorrow.

Tested the dehumidifier water and its at 0ppm/ec and 6.1ph so about what my RO system puts out.

I shouod have tucked all the tops as just a day or 2 later (been busy) they are all back up and what i didnt tuck is tall.

On a side note. Should I move the girl into the 5x5 tent under the 480w lights? I have a trellis for that tent now too. Main reasons is it seems 150w might not be enough to get the best yield results even in the 3x3. Only issue is i havent figured out the AC infinity app and settings since its way more hands off than vivosuns controller. Know of anyone who is experienced with aci’s 69 pro controller who could help?

You’ll get better corner and canopy coverage under the larger fixture :love_you_gesture:

Just did another res change and slightly upped nutes. She is definitely stretching. I think I might take this trellis off and try again but doing everything at once. Been having a lot of down days recently so been quite lazy about her.

I’ll try and figure out the ACI controller before the next res change and then move her into the larger tent for that better coverage. Shouldn’t be too hard just use longer tubing for the chiller and move the air pump. I’m also thinking about not doing a typical RDWC with multiple containers. Maybe get one large container 27-40ish gals and grow 2-4 plants in it since the larger light is only 480 watts and I have no plans on upgrading it till it dies and is out of warranty.

I also can’t update the firmware on the controller as it fails at 21% every time so might be defective. I have no idea how to connect to it over BT since it’s not in the options. I’ll email ACI at some point about it.

Talk about stretching and getting super bushy. She needs a haircut. Not sure if i should prune any when early into flower or not. Im not seeing any condensation on leaves that are stacking though.

I took the net off to move to the larger tent but now the ACI controller is bricked and doesnt do anything but show environmental conditions so might be sol until that gets fixed.

Since the vivosun controller has an rj11/12 plug it should work with my other light. It also seems aci fans and exhaust should aslo be compatible. My plan now is to email aci for a replacment and then swap over my vivosun controller to the other tent. Since it already has all my settings for the grow going this will be great if it all works. I like the aci ecosystem but their controllers seem like underbaked hardware which just happens to be the heart of the entire thing. Updates commonly breaking units, stuff requiring you to factory reset and lose settings to fix. Unfortunate.

I could go the amazon return route but the controller came with the exhaust and filter and not wanting to break all that down to exchange.

She is officially in flower i think. Keeps having this either light burn or deficiency though. She is drinking a ton of water too. Maybe 2 gals a day or 36 hours

Sorry for the back to back updates. I was able to fix the ac infinity controller and this time set it up as only over Bluetooth.

Now im just wondering when i can prune her to uncover bud sites. Oh, and if i can still net her in the 5x5 or if its a waste of time at this stage?

Ok, she is getting big now and has to move to the larger tent tomorrow. Im going to scrog her to separate the main colas branches and get better light penetration. Dont plan on pruning anything but bad leaves and any large fans i cant get away from other bud sites. She will get moved up to full strength GH nutes. Ill make sure to post some images of her. I have a good feeling she might just yield decently. Then i plan in using the small 3x3 tent for drying and early veg of new girls.

Also this 6" aci ehaust fan has insane negative pressure at 7 of 10 speed. Going to have to open up a base vent in the back of the tent against the wall for intake as it sucks in the walls way way way too much. Cant even pull them out by hand when tugging on a seam. It shouod also heat the house during winter since it gets 82 to 84F in there with that speed setting.

Ok, the move is completed. Here she is after 8 days post flip.
Full strength GH lucas formula nutes 8ml/16ml micro/bloom with calmag came to 5.8pH and 1150ppm so it jumped from, her usual 840ish ppm so hoping it doesn’t burn too much
DLI is at 35

Tent is 82F and 50rH so the vpd is 1.75 which is quite high.

@OGIncognito should I prune or leave her to do her thing? If yes to pruning how much, maybe an example pic?

Went ahead and put the humidifier in there and set it to 60% which is helping the VPD. I also have the controller set to keep it at 60% or ramp up the exhaust. I might have to install my fogger in there so I can use the ACI smart outlet because this humidifier doesn’t start back up after the power is killed to it so can’t really micro control it.

She is also going from 150w of vivosun LED to the 480w Hyphotonflux so I’m hoping that lets her outer branches stretch more.

I do a preflip defoliation then day 21 and 42 of flower. At 8 days post flip and if She’s sexual mature, she’s getting super close to transitioning to flower and that nice stretch we all like to see. A defoliation at this point may throw things off, you could drop the net and weave the branches through the squares to expose all the bud sites :love_you_gesture:

Ok good to know, thanks! I was having a bout of depression so got lazy the week before flip and didn’t trim her :frowning:

She is showing more and more pistols now at node sites now and has actually grown at least 8+inches in those 8 days it seems like but didn’t do a before and after measurement. If I weave the branches to expose the bud sites will that make horizontal colas or she will just move upright and stretch the cola and the lower sites will just be lower smaller buds like they would have anyways?

For the defoliation at 21 days I would only trim off below like node 4 on each branch and then remove only larger fan leaves that are covering other nodes?

I wouldn’t take any node growth but #1 and 2 if it’s a slow grower and can’t see the light. I would recommend selective leaf removal for several grows. Once it’s gone it’s gone and could shock the plant and stalling growth. It took me over 2 years to get where I was taking just the right amount of leaves to prevent or lessen shock. There’s a few defoliation pics in my journal on autos and photo period plants :love_you_gesture:

Don’t trim below 1 or 2 is that what you mean?

Yeah I’m nervous about flower pruning. Had been doing a lot of reading on it and it’s always so conflicting when it comes to flower phase stuff. There are a lot of decent nodes under the canopy I’m not sure I can get to see light without taking leaves or a semi strip. I’ll take a look at your journals.

Remove # 1 and 2 completely :love_you_gesture:
Auto defoliated before flowering set in

Ok so remove the bud site at 1 and 2 or the leaves? Sorry I’m being difficult haha. But I see that I should have really stripped her before flowering :frowning: live and learn. She is one wide bush

Ok so this is what I did with the net. Does it look acceptable?

Then at 21 days I will remove all the underbrush. I really need to put a level on this light so it’s not all cockeyed.
